@CollinPitre1 I know, this experience has been very eye opening. Honestly, you don't think twice when you sign up for social media or use technology. I think reflecting on how you're affected by algorithms in your daily life is a great way to start. I'll definitely be doing the same!#unboundeq
@AllyDigital Most definitely. If everything is handed to you by the algorithm, you just expect it to continue to do so. Especially when we have autocorrect, I feel we have the tendency to forget how to spell because it's done for us lol! #unboundeq
@jharr5332 Absolutely! Everyone uses technology without realizing the repercussions and I think this quote strongly highlights the relevance. We definitely need to think twice before using technology. #unboundeq
@MooneyTech I know! I hate when the algorithm is messed up because I clicked one thing and you have to reset it yourself to the way it used to be. #unboundeq
@ASimonitto Definitely true. A lot of times people think it's ok to write hurtful comments because no one will see them behind the screen. And it's not. It's sad how toxic the online community is sometimes.
@bonstewart 3) I've been playing a new phone game and I stopped playing it because it was getting too addictive. After I stopped, I kept getting ads for it nonstop. I think it shows that people have addictive personalities especially it comes to video games
@bonstewart 1b) Algorithms are pushing in the right directions when I want to make an online purchase lol but the content ends up very generalized. I think the algorithms feed into people's subconscious biases without them realizing it.
"And so precisely by putting their head down and just doing their job, they enabled this atrocity of global proportions.
And so the question for us is when we are putting our heads down now and just doing our job, what are we missing?"

@bonstewart 1a) Algorithms have increasingly shaped our lives because they know everything you do online. I always remember going online and see ads for things I've talked about but never searched up. It's scary knowing that they know you better than yourself. #unboundeq
@CharlottedEDUC I think this is so true! We all use technology without realizing what actions happen behind the scenes and mores, what thoughts were placed into its creation. #unboundeq
After watching The New Jim Code: A Conversation with Dr. Ruha Benjamin (https://t.co/JVcRLtaCWH). I'm interested in reading Dr. Benjamin's new book, Race After Technology! π€

"And in fact, one of the issues is that right now there is a small sliver of humanity that's doing most of the construction, most of the design, which them leads to all of the kind of social problems"
