Fiji's HIV response is led by dedicated healthcare professionals in the Ministry of Health and Medical Services. 🇦🇺 is providing technical and staffing support to help Fiji rapidly scale up its response, address HIV spread and help people living with HIV to access care.
As 🇦🇺 steps up its support to 🇫🇯 HIV response, I visited the Tamavua-Twomey TB hospital in Suva to hear from its clinicians about rising case numbers, including of drug resistant TB. 🇦🇺's support boosts a strong Fijian response to HIV, TB and other co-infections.
🇫🇯's CDC is now better able to detect diseases and contain outbreaks, thanks to a long-standing partnership with 🇦🇺's Doherty Institute funded by the 🇦🇺 Government. This includes a PCR capability for COVID, establishing a genomics laboratory and achieving measles accreditation.
