@nemozen Having said that, agree with most of the recommendations in your FX piece. If only these measures were taken 5-10yrs sooner. The potential for economic shock of floatation has gotten so much bigger over the yrs. Safeguards will need to match the scale and magnitude of that shock.
@nemozen Car owners in Ethiopia are net loosers. A car that would cost $8,000 to buy in Kenya, costs $16,000 here due to higher taxation. Present value of $50/month in subsidies will only amount to ~$4,714 in 10yrs (r=5%). Would you advise to match Kenya on taxes, as you did on subsidies?
