After a lot of thought I have decided to return to twitter. From 2023 to late 2025 I was part of the crowd that followed and wrote about the war in Ukraine, both here on Twitter and elsewhere. I did it because Ukraine did so much to change my life.. I was so moved by the the Ukrainians I met online and the footage I saw on Telegram and Twitter that I decided to take leaps of faith that I had never even considered taking before; tapering off of a ten year methadone regimen, quitting cigarettes, getting fit for the first time in my life - and many other things which I never believed I could do, the courage for which I sort of "borrowed" from the Ukrainians I knew personally and from those brave souls fighting in the war whose helmet camera footage I watched nearly every day (which is a habit that I don't recommend, by the way)
I have a wall in my house lined with flags and trinkets from friends around the world - I even kept the packaging because I was so proud. I had such high hopes for the future and for a swift victory against the Russians, I remember believing that the world would unite to support with the United States leading the way.. at that time I couldn't have imagined the way things would fall apart into chaos and malice and negativity.
Social media changes you over time, especially in the context of a war. You can start out with the best of intentions and sooner or later you will end up in disputes, be accused of propaganda and spying, find yourself feeling suspicious of others (especially those who ask for money) and the constant flow of bad news and aggression and lies will turn you sour one way or another. That negative energy (including that which came from my own behavior and words) is why I left several months back.
So why return? Well, I always wanted to emulate those few who kept their dignity and sense of focus and professionalism intact for this entire time, those who have stayed the course of rallying public support for Ukraine, educating people about the war and the Ukrainian people, and offering a counterweight to Russia's hybrid warfare that is present across all of social media. In short, I want to turn a new leaf and try again. I think I can do better.
Hopefully nobody will even know who I am. It's not even really relevant to anything that I have to offer here; I don't have any fancy impressive credentials, I never served in the military, I'm just somebody that was pulled into this by chance, somebody that wants to push back against the darkness and the lies shoulder to shoulder with everyone else who is fighting for what is right. Im also someone who makes mistakes and is wrong sometimes (especially about Iran, which, it turns out, really is a problem that must be dealt with.) I wish I could apologize directly to those within NAFO and certain US and European diplomats and officials that I gave such a hard time to with my previous account, but for now my apology must be sent in spirit. I hope we can all work together for the common good, even when we disagree on many individual issues. I don't want followers. I'll never ask for money. I just want to have not stayed silent and to not fall victim to hatred or indifference.
I am working on some projects that I will post here in time. I'm sure I'll also be using this account to rebut lies and misinformation and aggression against Ukraine and the US. In fact if anyone ever reads this that'll probably have been how you found me. If you feel the same as I do, feel free to shoot me a DM, especially if you're American or Ukrainian (or if you like motorcycles!)
@NavyStrang like most of the people in this administration he's simply in the wrong job. If he were a podcaster it'd probably appeal to the MMA bros and would probably do big numbers
Surely you have guys like that in the military but I don't think they make up the whole thing..
@PeteHegseth Mr. Badass War Guy Sir, a question: why does the President say things like he's going to hell and/or that he will never get into heaven and refuses to put his hand on the Bible during inauguration, etc?
@sashameetsrus what's it like knowing you will never set foot in New Hampshire ever again? Enjoy Moscow and your $2000 a month or whatever they give you because it's all you will ever have. And tell Chico to enjoy the snow and the subzero temperatures for me, thanks dear
Hey Brian (or anyone else feeling that way) let me fuckin tell you something. I have been both the bleeding heart empath and the piece of shit lunatic who binge-watches combat footage cheering at people dying and killing. You can take my word for it that you would rather be the empath. And you sure as hell don't want to be like the kind of guys that run these pro-Russia Twitter accounts, it ain't a good existence.
And it's not weakness either. It's a lot harder to be a good person and hold onto your humanity than it is to be one of these soulless ghouls. The community note is basically correct, it's not exactly PTSD, but if you've been following these events and watching the videos of 14 year-old girls lying dead in the street in their own blood or animal shelters and children's hospitals being bombed or people losing their entire families in drone strikes that can really fuck you up, and that's a good thing, you don't wanna be the kind of guy that isn't fucked up by that. Believe me.
Hold your head up high that you're an actual human being who understands the gravity of all of this and how depraved and anti-human it all is. go get treatment for whatever you've got going on, take a break if you need to, and then get back in the game 👍
@GunEagleFreedom@WhiteHouse@SenateDems the typo coupled with the fact that the King Ranch doesn't even take premium 😂 this is one of the best accounts out right now, I love the nuance you put into it
patriot!
@aidannonx I want all of you extremely well adjusted individuals in this thread to understand that I don't care about this anywhere near as much as you think I do k thanks
@itsDRG10@aidannonx Buddy all I can tell you is that it's a very good sign for this country that these are the kinds of people in our Ivy League institutions. I hope they enjoy the party while it lasts, I genuinely hope everybody had a great time.
@itsDRG10@aidannonx ohhhh so they're literally all just degenerate drug addict idiots? (side note, isn't Cornell supposed to be a pretty elite school? This is the type of people we let in our Ivy League universities now?)
I guess I should've known. Thanks for the link
@ajcjeong well then it sounds like American troops need to come home from Korea right away so that you can all be one big happy family 😃 I'm glad you guys finally got it all worked out via "subtle sentiments" or whatever!
