Maj Maroof Raja passed away yesterday, and the flood of condolences on Twitter clearly reflected his significance. Even Prime Minister Modi acknowledged him. However, prominent figures like Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati, Owaisi, and the rest of the sicular brigade of likes of Arfa,Rana Ayub,Nasiruddin Shah failed to extend their condolences. While the entire country paid tribute, these usual champions of the Muslim cause remained conspicuously absent. Interestingly, these individuals have previously broken bangles for Ateeq Memon, Afzal, Burhan, and others, yet remained silent on Maroof. This oversight seems rooted in the fact that Maroof was an Army officer and a proud, nationalist, and patriotic Indian Muslim who never played the victim. Even Pakistani Twitter handles expressed surprise at the overwhelming grief over Maj Maroof's death. Shame on you Congress and your eco system.
