Sepideh Qolian went directly from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad to the grave of Khosrow Alikordi following her release on May 30, 2026, and published a message about truth, imprisonment, and resistance.

Comparing herself to Sisyphus, Qoliyan wrote: “The rulers have condemned us, as if by divine decree, to push a stone up a hill.”

She described carrying “the heavy burden of truth, all the pieces of the truth, separated and fragmented,” again and again through “the world’s dizzying yet necessary repetitions.”

Referring to censorship and internet blackouts, she added: “They cut us off constantly, just like this internet, whose longest shutdowns in the world also belong to us.” Despite this, she vowed: “I may grow tired of anything, but not of reaching freedom and carrying these hard stones of truth.”

Calling the Islamic Republic’s conduct at Alikordi’s memorial ceremony “ISIS-like,” she said it “must not and cannot make me put down the unfinished stone I picked up in December 2022.”

Addressing Alikordi directly, she wrote: “Hello again, Khosrow. How they tried to close the eyes of truth by killing you. If we fall silent, then which Scheherazade will tell your story?” She added: “I wish Khosrow were here. I wish that instead of visiting his grave, I could dial his number and call him.”

Reflecting on her release, Qoliyan wrote: “Now I am outside, yet as always after leaving prison, a part of my heart remains behind in prison.” She said the eyes of her fellow prisoners carried only one message: “Do not forget us.”

Before leaving, she touched the fingers of imprisoned friends Azar Yahoo, Mahboubeh Shaabani, Hadis Morvaridi, and Soheila Hosseini through the prison hatches. She also searched for activist Sima Ebnai among the crowd but could not find her.

Qoliyan said that while imprisoned she learned of the mass killings of January 2026 and the deaths of civilians and children in Minab during the war, writing: “What a deep wound they have inflicted upon the soul of Iran.”

She concluded: “I am still on my way, carrying the heavy burden of the January prisoners held in Vakilabad Prison. I will shout each and every one of their names.” She ended with a final wish: “I only wish I could be their Scheherazade.”
