Student run account of the Nanoscale Solar Cells research group @_amolf, led by Prof. Dr. Erik Garnett.
Working on perovskites, plasmonic chemistry, and more
Last week we had a great time on our group trip to @hiern_de, @UniFAU, @TU_Muenchen, and @LMU_Muenchen in Erlängen and Munich.
We took the train, which gave us the chance to enjoy a great football match together!
Good luck to the Dutch team tonight🧡 #NEDENG
Overjoyed to present "Silicon-Inspired Analysis of Interfacial Recombination in Perovskite Photovoltaics" , just published in Advanced Energy Materials! 🙌
Congratulations to the amazing Sarah Gillespie (@plt_plot_Sarah)

🙂We had the pleasure to share 2 days in Munich 🇩🇪🍻🥨 with the entire @AmolfNSC team! 🇳🇱☀️🔋 It was a pleasure to receive Erik and his group and to discuss such great science altogether in the context of @CeNS_LMU and @econversion_de ⛽️🙌Looking forward to visiting @_amolf 🚆💚
We had an amazing time at the Unconventional Semiconductors GRC and GRS last week. Many great talks and engaging discussions, and so much opportunity to speak to other researchers. Thrilled to bring fresh insights back to our lab!

We are pleased to share our newest publication: "Spectroscopic Analysis for the Identification of Loss Mechanisms in Back-Contact Perovskite Solar Cells", highlighting powerful optical and electrical mapping methods to deduce loss mechanisms in BCPSCs: https://t.co/fW6AWtmUXx
Our newest PhD graduate Hongyu Sun successfully defended his thesis, titled "Novel Routes and Insights into Halide Perovskite Solar Cells" last Thursday 22nd June. Hongyu was a member of NSC for 5 years, working on both his master's and PhD. Congratulations on a great defence!
Congratulations to Julia van der Burgt on making it to the finals of this year's Young Speaker Contest, organised by @NNV_tweets! Julia, who defended her PhD with us last year, will be presenting at the FYSICA conference in Delft on May 26th.

💥I feel very honored to be among the 2022 recipients of the ERC Starting Grants and to get the chance to pursue my proposal ideas of Operando Interfacial Ionics – ORION. The ERC funds my group with 1.75m over the next 5 years.
Stay tuned for the FHI press release!📰
As a small escape from science, we escaped from a cabin in the woods yesterday! Who wants to have a guess who won: the team of oldies or the team of newbies?
Introducing to two new postdocs to our group: Dr Jyoti Lather & Dr Jérôme Gautier. Jyoti will work on electrocatalytic reactions tuning via strong coupling & Jérôme will develop an ultrafast microscopy set up to study nanophotonic enhanced directivity in perovskite films.Welcome!
Flexible silicon solar foils, made using a roll-to-roll process. Dutch PV technology ready to roll out on your roof. What an exciting visit of our LMPV team @_amolf to HyET Solar in Arnhem today. Thank you for hosting us!
C2W interviewde Garnett: https://t.co/KpcHXRhjsb

Erik has won the KNCV gold medal for the top chemist in the Netherlands under 40! This award recognizes the amazing work done by all group members over the last 10 years. Let’s keep the momentum going to help fight climate change!
However, his most important accomplishment is how many people he positively influenced. He has been a great group member, mentor, collaborator and friend, and we will miss him dearly. He will leave behind a huge gap in our group after today!
During his PostDoc, he has accomplished many things, such as this beautiful paper on Energy-resolved plasmonic chemistry in individual nanoreactors
