Around the time a woman and a man were being mercilessly beaten with sticks after being held 'guilty' by a Talibani kangaroo court at Chopra in West Bengal on Saturday, the Chief Justice of India was giving a lecture on 'Constitutional Morality' at a high brow event, 'Contemporary Judicial Developments', in Kolkata.
The perpetrator of the ghastly crime, recorded on video and circulated widely, is Tajemul (nicknamed 'JCB'). He runs kangaroo courts called 'Insaf Sabha' where summary 'judgements' are passed and punishment meted out in Talibani style. 'JCB' is alleged to be a 'close associate' of Chopra TMC MLA Hamidur Rahaman.
Chopra in Uttar Dinajpur district has an overwhelming Muslim majority. Per the 2011 Census, 64% of the population comprises Muslims while Hindus constitute 34% ; these number have likely changed and gulf widened over the last 13 years.
This ghastly gut-churning crime, which was committed in broad daylight in a public place while an appreciative crowd stood around and even helped 'JCB' mete out his 'punishment', recalls the violence let loose on the women of Sandeshkhali by TMC goon Sheikh Shahjahan.
CM Mamata Banerjee, her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, and TMC had loudly defended Sheikh Shahjahan, while the West Bengal Police could not trace the accused perpetrator of unspeakable crimes for more than a month. It's only after the Calcutta High Court gave an ultimatum that West Bengal Police miraculously 'found' the untraceable tormentor and land-grabber of Sandeshkhali.
The widespread but under-reported pre-election, election and post-election violence against political opponents of Mamata Banerjee is the new normal. The violence unleashed on anybody who stands up to the incumbent TMC is the leitmotif of the ‘Republic of Fear’ which West Bengal has become.
Everyday life in West Bengal is now a cruel, heartless mockery of the Constitution of #India, Constitutionalism, Rule of Law, Democracy, Freedom, Liberty, Civil Rights, Equality, Fraternity, Justice and Human Dignity. The state is littered with multiple glaring signs of fascism and its many attendant evils, including rampant corruption and rent-seeking by way of ‘protection money’ and ‘cut money’.
All this and more is happening right under the nose of CM Mamata Banerjee who, ironically, also holds the Home Portfolio.
But it’s water off a duck's back for the Mamata Regime and those who continue to prop it up, including ‘intellectuals’ and ‘artistes’ who claim to represent the ‘Culture’ of West Bengal.
Cry, my beloved Bengal!
Akele hi chale the apni manzil ko paane...magar rah chalte carvaan banta chala gaya!

Our Prime Minister Modiji, while treating all states as equal, has always paid special attention to those parts of India which are behind in economic indicators, especially in the East and North-East of Bharat.
He has a soft corner for Bihar and when I feel the pulse of 14 crore Biharis, we also have a soft corner for our Honourable PM.
Bihar mein itna potential hai. It has God-given fertile land and human resources. Itni history hai, aur culture hai.. it should be a tourism hub. It’s the land of Buddha, Mahavir, Guru Gobind Singh sahab, Sita ji. It is also the homeland of the great Chandragupta Maurya and the place where one of the world’s first universities, Nalanda, took root. Patliputra was the capital of India.
Hamari aazadi ke sangharsh mein bhi Bihar ka aham role raha hai. Gandhiji ka pehla satyagraha Champaran mein hua tha. Kayi freedom fighters Bihar ke the, including our first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Emergency ke time mein it was a Bihari, Jai Prakash Narayan who led the fight to restore democracy.
Today, Bihar is not associated with economic power, but after independence so many industries came up in the state. Many of these subsequently went with the new state of Jharkhand in 2000. It is very important for Bihar to nurture a close alliance with Jharkhand. The latter has the natural resources while Bihar has human resources and a big market. It also has huge potential for renewable energy. And since it has abundant land, it can always be a home for factories as well, like steel plant, fertilizer plant, oil refinery etc
Bihar is the land of Chanakya, the master of statecraft and strategy. Its people, particularly women, are hugely talented multitaskers. Under PM Modi’s leadership, let’s take Bihar to the next level.
hamare bihar ke teacher Anand Kumar ji has helped many dreams come true by teaching maths to underprivileged students. I wish him congratulations on getting Padma Shree. gyan se bada koi daan nahi. we need more people like him....
