@PictureSporting Interesting trajectories Murali and Hair took from that moment - one went onto become a legend, ICC hall of famer, Wisden’s cricketer of the 21st century, honoured by the MCC. The other ended up being a thief who stole from a bottle shop in rural Aus - https://t.co/ks5Fq4fTJl
@maggieofthetown I don’t think there were any contradictions from the very first book of the NJO onwards all the way through to the last EU book, but before that, for sure there were contradictions - it just didn’t seem as egregious as the TFA was in comparison to the lead up books
Top story, a superb piece of investigative journalism. Australia’s Nazis and their super rich mates. Just like Hitler, they have their very own Berchtesgaden…

Masters of the Universe is so much funnier than I expected. It’s part Flash Gordon, part Deadpool, and almost officially a parody of itself. These are all good things, by the way.

Since I didn't review #MastersoftheUniverse for anyone, I'm going to expand on my post-premiere thoughts now that I've had two weeks to really mull them over.
@mastersmovie is EXACTLY the kind of big, colorful, unapologetically earnest blockbuster I had hoped it would be. As a longtime fan of LAIKA, Travis Knight and Chris Butler continue their streak of never steering me wrong. While the script occasionally runs a little long, it's packed with so much heart, humor, and genuine affection for the source material that I never really minded spending extra time in this world.
What impressed me most is how confidently the film embraces what 'Masters of the Universe' has always been: hopeful, weird, colorful, campy, and endlessly fun. This is a true hopepunk adventure that wears its heart on its sleeve, and that vulnerability is just so special. It's filled with wink-and-nod moments for longtime fans while never descending into cynicism or parody.
It celebrates the Saturday morning cartoon spirit that made the original series so beloved, leaning fully into its goofiness, grandeur, and that larger-than-life mythology that fans will talk your ears off about.
Visually, I still cannot fully state what an absolute feast this film is for the senses. The costumes are stunning, the production design is packed with detail, and the blend of practical and visual effects creates a world that feels SO tangible. Eternia feels lived-in, and I'm not just saying that because I've walked on the sets and seen it with my own eyes!
Nicholas Galitzine is fantastic as both Prince Adam and He-Man, bringing a genuine duality to the role that helps sell the emotional core of the story. He understands that Adam and He-Man are two sides of the same coin, and he gives each side a distinct personality. I've loved his previous work, but this made me a Nicholas Galitzine fan for life.
Camila Mendes provides so much warmth and emotional grounding throughout the film, bringing heart and balance whenever the story threatens to become overwhelmed by its larger-than-life mythology. Her scenes with Galitzine and Idris Elba are just tremendous.
And then there's Jared Leto's Skeletor. For better or worse, he absolutely steals every scene he's in. Paired with Alison Brie's sharp Evil-Lyn, the two create one of the most entertaining villain dynamics I've seen in years. I laughed so hard at some of the Skeletor moments because he's just as meme-tastic as he is in the animated series, and it's so impressive they pulled it off in live-action.
Perhaps the film's greatest achievement is how accessible it is. Newcomers can jump in without any prior knowledge and have a great time, while longtime fans will enjoy the countless references, visual callbacks, and affectionate (often on-the-nose) homages woven throughout. It understands exactly why people fell in love with 'Masters of the Universe' in the first place, and it isn't afraid to embrace the camp, color, sincerity, and joy that defined the franchise. Which is something SO rare these days.
I had an absolute blast, and I cannot wait to see it a second, third, and fourth time!
It’s all talk. Just withhold foreign aid to Israel for a month and they’ll stop bombing their neighbors - instant peace, the Strait of Hormuz can be opened, and gas drops $2 a gallon. Israel has been, and continues to be, the biggest welfare recipient from American tax payers.
Forget the dishonesty, it’s official: @RubinReport is the dumbest man in right-wing media. Just gets completely owned, again and again. So embarrassing for him.
Note that the UK Government just banned entry of two American citizens -- @cenkuygur and @hasanthehun -- not because they criticized or worked against the interests of the UK.
It was solely because they criticize and oppose the one country deemed sacred and off-limits in the UK and so many other wester countires: Israel.
The UK under Labour is also regularly arresting its own citizens for peacefully protesting Israel's genocide in Gaza (including old British ladies and countless Jewish activists at these protests, though they remain free to protest *in favor* of Israel or against any other country).
This is all driven by the same dynamic that caused the Trump Admin -- as one of its very earliest top priorities last year -- to force US universities to expel American students protesting Israel, to deport others who merely criticized Israel, and to implement aggressive speech codes to protect Israel from common criticisms (even though one is free to say all the same things about any other country, including the US).
Why does this one small country command such special, elevated, supreme status and attention in so many western countries? It's way past time to give that question the attention it deserves and to finally put and end to it.
the uk has revoked my visa as well. all at the behest of israel. the west is betraying "liberal values" for a genocidal fascist foreign government. soon we will all become israel.
I’ve been banned from the UK. I tried to get on a flight to London to attend SXSW London and give a speech at Oxford. I’ve been banned for criticizing Israel. Are we free anymore? This is oppression of Western citizens by our own governments on behalf of a different country!
Iran knew. Thanks to Chinese satellites they knew exactly where they took off from as well. That’s why they hurt UAE so consequentially and destroyed its oil infrastructure. That childish Emirati misadventure cost UAE its reputation for stability, and scared away westerners, millionaires & investors. The only people coming to UAE are Israelis. 40% of their residents are already Indian. A nation of expats dependent on Indians and Israelis the two most apartheid disloyal nations on the planet…. This won’t end well for UAE
This will ruin your day, perhaps your summer, or even the rest of your life.
But you need to listen to it. You need to know the crimes that are done in your name and with your tax money.
A British surgeon in Gaza testifies that Israeli soldiers used Palestinian children as target practice. One day, they would shoot the children in the testicles, and on other days, in their necks.
They were practicing their shooting on children.
Imagine supporting a state whose existence is predicated on a total rejection of equal rights — while also claiming your politics is based on equality and justice
Sanders might be the biggest fraud in US politics, and that’s a high bar
