I know the POTUS means well, but the endless thoughts and prayers and hero talk needs to stop. Its so patronizing. Give HCWs loan repayment. Give front line workers tort protection. Give us a better healthcare system. No want wants to be patronized by this endless hero talk

But unlike the ACTUAL tremendous debt of HCWs, he wont have to pay his debt back… but fully expects you to do so.

@WhyamIhereb Here's the thing, you're doing a physical exam the second you walk in the room and look at the pt. Sure, listening to lung and heart sounds for the majority of patients isn't necessary but it helps pts feel reassured that we're paying attention.

@21cbrain @grahamwalker @farid__jalali This is called teaching health literacy. It is something that should have been taught in schools but we have a terrible education system too so we're slapping bandaids on education with one-liners and graphics.
I agree with you though. It's just unfortunate that it has to be done

I think part of this anxiety is that med professionals know that we ONLY have prevention.
There's no specific treatment for COVID. You just keep trying everything to keep someone oxygenated and hope their body can fight back the infection.

This isn't a rare occurrence, it happens 4 or 5 times a day.
It's never said maliciously but it still hurts that no matter how much I present myself as a doctor it's never going to be someone's default assumption of me.

@davidasilva Agreed, some schools hold harder than others. This only serves to eliminate non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
The ideal candidate is a rounded person who has shown integrity and dedication to medicine and can pass a standardized exam.
