Excellent conversation about reading instruction on a podcast focused on math. Links between problems with instruction in reading and math and many other issues explored. Good weekend listening. https://t.co/j7joPctXPc
Action shot! This 1st grader now has the skills to plan, organize, and write a story independently. Notice the organizer she created herself? So grateful for the work of Karen Harris and @thinkSRSD! Teaching evidence based writing strategies is where it's at!

Balanced literacy adherent are trying to help kids. Science of Reading advocates are pointing to opportunities to consistently reach many more kids, if shifts are made.

Dear for-profit publishing companies who sell *good* core programs aligned to the scientific evidence base:
Please stop having your salespeople pad quotes with additional unnecessary, expensive, often *not* aligned add-ons, supplements, and assessment systems.
Thanks.

The #ScienceOfReading is not something you can go out &purchase. It does not come in a neat little box in the mail. It cannot be learned overnight by reading 1 book.
It is a passionate journey that you embark on, sometimes alone or sometimes, if youโre lucky, with a friend.๐งต
