Seeker of Truth in Opposition to All Else. Aspiring to Mastery of Life. Universal synchronization through Music & Love. Voluntary collective action wins liberty
For all the tininess of its political percentage among the general population, libertarian Twitter is incredibly widespread and diverse in personality, background, age, temperament, talent, and principal.
My sense is that if we can get beyond the individualistic "herding cats" tendency amongst most libertarians, and truly organized for shared goals, our political capital would be far more dominant than it currently is, perhaps enough to educate the populace into mainstream acceptance of Austrian economics, instill universal negative rights ethics, and even possibly be free in our lifetime.
The above would require an organizing effort unlike what English speaking libertarians have experienced in generations, and it would take a study and acceptance of organizing not commonly found among modern libertarians, especially from its movement leaders. Doing so would also require an extreme increase in empathy (less autism), greater acceptance of voluntary collective action, and a championing of the common or working man and labor markets in the context of what libertarianism brings to the general public, beyond the hero worship of the entrepreneur, if we are to truly capture the hearts and minds of the people.
The world is in many ways entering a crossroads, an inflection point, and we have the numbers and the answers, to lead the next evolutional age of advancement for civilization, rather than destruction and collapse, or greater totalitarianism, so often regressed into in the past; if we only but remember the ancient and modern lesson:
"United we stand, divided we fall" — Aesop
''We must all hang together, or we shall all hang separately.'' — Benjamin Franklin at the signing of the Declaration of Independence
“If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” — Mark 3:25
“Untied we bargain, divided we beg” — Trade Union Slogan
I do not agree. I said above, even lacking the US military, Russia simply does not have the logistics or wherewithal to take or hold American territory. Civilian resistance and voluntary militias are more than enough to counter such a concern. Russia would be easily broken by even the slightest resistance, and they have enough trouble keeping their own territory and regional neighbors stable. They would risk collapse at home through such a foolish adventure.
Logistics in terms of war means supply lines, money, allies, terrain, population, etc. If you’re afraid of a handful of vets landing in San Diego on a United flight to meet the warlords who invited them, we’re way beyond having discussions in reality.
But such is the power of American State propaganda.
@PaperhackWriter How does a few hundred Russian mercenaries end up in the employ of local African warlords? This can’t be a serious question of comparison, can it?
Logistics. Again, the fact that they can’t hold Afghanistan or even all of Ukraine, tells them that can hold no part of America. They can’t even fantasize about such a possibility.
But apparently our government can irrationally cause you to hate and fear them enough to extract your wealth for their purposes.
Better check who your actual enemy is. It’s the one who is currently picking your pocket.
Nuclear weapons are not so much weapons of war, but rather annihilators of civilian populations. It serves no Russian interest to kill me or to blight American land, not if they would like to rule over me or this land. Rather, nuclear weapons are reserved for the threat of mutually assured destruction in a suicide pact, that again, can only be triggered by my own government.
As far as conventional warfare goes, Russia absolutely does not have the logistical capacity to take or hold really any part of the US, even absent the US military. Afghanistan proved this to them, and us, and an occupation in another continent with a much larger, more capable population isn’t even a fantasy.
There isn’t a state on Earth that isn’t authoritarian, to greater or lesser degrees. Russia is not a unique case in this regard.
What stops all authoritarians from global domination is logistics/ability, and this limitation forces foreign authoritarians to largely focus on their own local and domestic control unless threatened from the outside, which my government is currently engaged in..
As a practical matter, I cannot wage a foreign offensive against every state on Earth. I must focus on those that have directly harmed or threatened me, and currently, that is only my own government.
@PaperhackWriter The Russian government is a corrupt authoritarian oligarchy, which serves the financial and domestic power interests of their local oligarchs. Their only interest in propagandizing to me is to blunt the threat my government is to them. Otherwise, they have no interest in me.
@PaperhackWriter They only care about me insofar as I have political capital within my own government. Their actual target is the American government. I am only a proxy of potential change to that target. Otherwise, they don’t care about me, nor I them.
The Russian government doesn’t care about me or American citizens in general. They care about the American government and the actual and potential threats it poses to them.
What stops them from hurting me personally? Lack of interest and logistics, which aren’t about to change for the foreseeable future, unless my own government provokes further escalation.
So again, it is my own government that poses the biggest threat to my wellbeing, in both their domestic policies and also their foreign policies.

@HanShawnity That might be the start of a hypothesis if you made a logical connection to the claim and if libertarians weren’t the highest IQ per capita political ideology, which they/we are…
@LudwigNverMises Yeah, I’m not sure how spending trillions in a globalist effort of paranoia over Russia or Islam restores anything in America actually…
@NeoRothbardian Both sides:
Anarchy is the ideal, which requires a heretofore un-obtained universal ethos. Minarchy is the objective historical civilizational requirement without devolving into savagery.
In other words: minarchy on the streets, anarchy in the sheets.
Libertarians can be left or right, and there are libertarian solutions that can be left or right, but libertarianism itself as an ideology is neither left or right.
So called libertarians that put their leftism or rightism ahead of liberty divide the movement for the benefit of authoritarians and are in effect tools of authoritarians and are a net negative for liberty.
