Mefenamic acid is the NSAID classically associated with central nervous system toxicity and convulsions, particularly in cases of overdose.

Mechanism: It crosses the blood-brain barrier easily and acts as an antagonist at GABA-A receptors, lowering the seizure threshold.

Clinical Significance: While general NSAID overdoses usually cause mild gastrointestinal or renal symptoms, mefenamic acid overdose carries a disproportionately high risk of causing tonic-clonic seizures.
