Excited to advertise this post-doc position in the Davidson Death Lab. Here, we'll live-image tumour cell death in diverse Drosophila tumour models to learn how different types of cancer learn to live with cell death.

October 2024 "Paper of the Month" Award 🏆:
A really smart and thorough approach to microbial competition. High levels of translational potential while also significantly contributing to our fundamental understanding: win-win! https://t.co/VpBe5FBxhF @Nature
September 2024 "Paper of the Month" Award 🏆 (slightly late 🤦♂️):
A really interesting MiniReview on our strategies to define/classify and study dysbiosis. https://t.co/rAYg3FLv5r. @ASMicrobiology
Really excited to share our review in @NatRevImmunol, out today, on how oxygenation affects immune responses https://t.co/dTvXlGWpT9. A joint venture with @WalmsleyLab & @Man_Alex2012 Grateful for the editorial input from @Ybordon. @EdinUni_CIR
Check out our new paper in @MicrobiomeJ on how dietary fiber metabolism modulates microbial-produced B vitamin availability in the gut and impacts the immune system. https://t.co/oblNGn78wH
We are all living in a bubble that deprives us of experiences needed to understand the true magnitude of the threat posed by the rise of multi-drug resistant infections. It would be wise to allocate resources that match the severity of the threat.

We show that apoptosis-dependent expansion of the Enterobacteriaceae delays intestinal recovery following chemotherapy. @EdinUni_IRR@edin_EID
Really surprisingly, we found that death-dependent purine containing metabolites (AMP, GMP, IMP), can act as accessory signals to re-wire E coli transcription to promote aerobic respiration and suppress anaerobic respiration, even when grown under aerobic conditions (17% O2)!
