I’m saying this to say activists, revolutionaries, and freedom fighters from the past enjoyed things in life. They were not fighting 24 hours a day. They enjoyed things. They smiled. They loved laughing with their friends and family. They had a sense of humor. They played sports. They danced. They were regular people.

Stop using the iconicized versions of these people to shame folks who find joy in “regular” things. Stop making it seem like enjoying things in life are against the “rules” of struggling for liberation. Stop flattening these human beings into being seen as two dimensional hero characters to be worshiped and weaponized.
