The world must speak about Crimea — loudly, honestly, and with unity. This is exactly how I addressed the participants of the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform in Stockholm.

Crimea is not only about the past. It is about Europe’s security today. russia has turned the peninsula into a launching ground for war, destroys Ukrainian culture, spreads propaganda, persecutes Crimean Tatars and all those who refuse to accept the occupation. But Ukrainian resistance in Crimea endures — proving that the peninsula is Ukrainian not only by law, but also by spirit.

I outlined Ukraine’s clear position on peace: we strive for peace, but it must be a just peace — protected from renewed aggression. No recognition of the russian occupation, no restrictions on Ukraine’s defence capabilities, no veto on our Euro-Atlantic course, and no decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine. Real peace is a combination of security, sanctions pressure, strengthened defence capabilities, and Ukraine’s integration into the EU and NATO.

It was especially symbolic to see the 1710 Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk displayed in the Riksdag — one of Europe’s oldest constitutional acts, reminding us that Ukraine’s right to statehood and freedom has deep historical roots.

I am grateful to Sweden and to the Speaker of the Riksdag, @andreasostgote, for hosting this year’s Summit and for their unwavering solidarity with Ukraine. Today, the Riksdag brought together parliamentary leaders of nations that stand with us and help deter russian aggression. We must continue to put pressure on the aggressor.

We stand at a decisive moment. Our shared determination will define not only Ukraine’s future, but also Europe’s security and the strength of international law.

Today at the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform, I reaffirmed Sweden’s unwavering support for Ukraine and Ukraine’s right to independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Crimea is Ukraine – as are Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.

The Minister is on the second day of his visit to Sweden today, the centrepiece of which is the inaugural Nordic 5-NZ Foreign Ministers Meeting.

The Minister visited Sweden’s Parliament (Rikstag), calling on Speaker Andreas Norlén.

They discussed:

-Areas of cooperation between NZ and Sweden;

-the role of Speaker in Nordic political systems;

-the geostrategic environments in Europe and the Indo-Pacific; and

-the war in Ukraine.

@KristerThelin @viktorbk I vägledningen fanns redan för fem år sedan en formulering om prydliga jeans. Jag skulle själv inte bära jeans i kammaren, men jeans och kavaj har sedan länge godtagits i kammaren så i det avseendet var vägledningen en informell kodifiering av vad som redan gällde.

@KristerThelin @viktorbk …ledamöterna inte skulle behöva googla fram definitionen. Ordningsreglerna, där klädkoden ingår, sågs över hösten 2024 och jag beslutade om revideringar, inklusive mindre justeringar i vägledningen, i januari 2025. GP rapporterade felaktigt detta som en nyhet nu i veckan.

@jensrunnberg @KristerThelin @viktorbk Det handlar självklart inte om att ordet statsråd inte får användas i kammaren. Statsråd och minister är som bekant synonymer och används här i samma mening i regeringsformen: ”Regeringen består av statsministern och övriga statsråd”.

@jensrunnberg @KristerThelin @viktorbk Informationen på riksdagens webbplats formulerades tidigare så att förändringen kunde uppfattas som mer omfattande än den är. Den handlar alltså om att alla statsråd - inte enbart departementschefer - omtalas med ministertitlar när de omnämns av talmannen eller i protokollet.

@TorbjornNilsso I kammaren har det sedan gammalt gjorts skillnad i titulaturen mellan statsråd som är departementschefer och andra statsråd. Detta har sitt ursprung i 1809 års regeringsform, men är ologiskt och opedagogiskt gentemot den lyssnande allmänheten.
