RIP Coach Johnny Coefield.
Coach Coefield left a lasting impact on high school athletics throughout North Florida. A former FAMU High School and Rickards coach, he was also instrumental in helping launch 4Quarters Online, providing a much needed voice for prep sports across the region. Through his efforts, preseason media days became a staple in Tallahassee and Panama City, helping showcase countless student athletes, coaches, and programs.
His passion for high school sports, commitment to telling the stories of young athletes, and dedication to his community will not be forgotten.
The Florida Coaches Coalition extends its deepest condolences to Coach Coefield's friends, family, loved ones, and all those whose lives he touched. His contributions to Florida high school athletics will continue to be felt for years to come.

@RonDeSantis I can't wait for FAFO to expose what a majority of these school districts have been doing with the funds that should have been going directly to teachers 🍿
Thank you for all you have done for educators (and coaches).
Some coaches have already called their Superintendents and demanded districts allow booster pay.
Some coaches have already banded together across their districts and pushed for higher supplements.
The legislation is working exactly the way it was intended to work and it was signed less than a week ago.
Stop being the coach who runs to social media complaining about not having a booster club. Start being the coach who builds relationships with parents and the community to create one.
Stop saying your district would “never” increase supplements if you have not even scheduled a meeting with your Superintendent to hear it directly from them.
You have 2 choices:
Fight for your worth or sit there and accept what you are given.

Florida school districts have officially run out of excuses.
The law is signed.
The funding mechanism exists.
And coaches can now legally be compensated through boosters without touching district budgets.
So if a district still chooses to block it, delay it, bury it in policy, or hide behind bureaucracy, understand something clearly:
That is no longer “following the rules.”
That is a choice.
A choice to ignore the people sacrificing nights, weekends, holidays, and time away from their own families to build opportunities for student athletes across this state.
You watched parents fill school board meetings over masks.
You watched communities organize when they felt ignored.
Now imagine what happens when coaches, parents, athletes, alumni, and entire communities realize districts are standing in the way of lawful compensation that costs the district NOTHING.
Florida coaches carried this profession on their backs for decades while districts benefited from the culture, success, and community they built.
Those days are over.
Every district is now on notice.
Something is happening this morning.
Not a meeting.
Not another announcement.
Something bigger.
For years, coaches have dreamt about this moment.
And TODAY… everything changes.
As soon as the ink dries, a new era begins in Florida.
Stay tuned to your timelines. 👀
@arielhelwani@The_MJF Ask someone to name 5 Bret matches... they'll struggle after the Iron Man match, Montreal Screwjob, or the Goldberg catastrophe.
Ask them to name 5 Shawn matches and they'll rattle off 10.
We’re not just talking about change. We’re in the rooms where it happens.
From Tallahassee to your local school board, FCC is fighting for fair pay and resources.
Florida’s coaches are the backbone of our communities. They are mentors, leaders, and role models.
For decades, coaches were told to wait their turn while nobody stepped into the fight. No pressure on teacher unions or school districts. No unified voice. No real action.
If your association had truly been fighting for coaches, it would not have taken 50 years to finally move legislation forward.
Progress doesn’t happen from the sidelines. It happens when people are willing to lead.

While everyone else talked… we worked.
From August 2025 until now, we’ve spent every day pushing for coaches across the state of Florida.
Meeting with lawmakers.
Building relationships.
Creating opportunities.
Having difficult conversations nobody else wanted to have.
Not for attention.
Not for credit.
For coaches. 💪
Because while others accepted “the way it’s always been done”… we chose progress.
Coaching today isn’t what it was 10 years ago. 📣
More pressure.
More expectations.
More responsibility.
Meanwhile most coaches are still being asked to do more with less. ⚠️
The profession changed.
The demands changed.
The question is whether the support around coaches changed with it. 👀
That’s why the Florida Coaches Coalition exists.

@StasiKamoutsas The most corrupt school district in Florida. She has the nerve to ask for the District to hire outside counsel to investigate (more tax dollars wasted) and then throws her Secretary under the bus. Great job as always @StasiKamoutsas 👏
Big time thank you to Dr. Jake von Scherrer for his impact at our Orlando COY Clinic.
During the event, Jake played a key role in building out and leading the Athletic Director portion, helping elevate the experience for everyone involved. His insight, leadership, and commitment to doing things the right way continue to make a difference across Florida.
We’re honored to have someone so respected in the athletic community in our corner, consistently supporting what we’re building every step of the way.
@jakestouchdown we appreciate you and everything you do.
For anyone reading this… go listen to the Educational AD Podcast. It’s one of the best high school athletics podcasts in the country and a must-follow if you care about growing as a coach or athletic director.
