I have learnt that @kizzabesigye1 has been taken to Mulago Hospital.

He will not allow any government official to touch him.

His personal doctor examined him in prison just three hours ago, determined that he urgently needed treatment at her clinic, and has still not been allowed to care for him.

Denying @kizzabesigye1 his lawyers. Denying him bail. Denying him access to his own doctor.

These are injustices no family should have to endure.

We continue to demand justice for @kizzabesigye1.

It is now clear as day that in cases of political nature, there is a synchronized, choreographed coordination between the Ugandan judiciary (some judges, magistrates, registrars, prosecutors), the torturous military state, and the Ugandan police to defeat non-derogable rights (freedom from torture, fair hearing, and the right of habeas corpus).

The evidence is abundant - a person is abducted in broad daylight, on camera, with selected media houses in tow, held incommunicado, and tortured. His lawyers apply to court for a writ of habeas corpus; all state organs deny holding the individual. The courts offer no remedy.

Then suddenly, the individual is ‘dumped’ at a police station, charge sheet ready and a judicial officer waiting to send them to prison -denying them bail on flimsy reasons.

These prosecutors, judicial officers, and security officials must know that they too will one day need the protection of the law. Acquiescing in violating the law and the dignity of fellow citizens is a moral and legal failing that will consume you all too. Know that we know you.

Today, a young man's case was dismissed by a magistrate's court after he spent 540 days in Luzira without charge.

A slum-dwelling school dropout. No lawyer, friends, or relatives.

So I stood in as a "relative".

@JoelSsenyonyi I request that you table this bill before the House on my behalf.

When senior judicial officers experience first-hand actual life in our prisons, perhaps they will show a little more sensitivity when remanding suspects to prison.

Uganda doesn't need intern doctors.

Mothers have been giving birth since Genesis.
The cervix knows what to do. The placenta has never read a textbook and has always figured it out. Postpartum haemorrhage is simply the body being dramatic.
If the baby is not breathing, pray. It has worked before.
We have testimonies.

And this 70% of healthcare services they claim to provide in public facilities, frankly, that number sounds exaggerated.
Surely the walls are doing something. The benches. The relatives who sleep under the bed and remind the patient to breathe.
Uganda's healthcare system is a community effort. Interns are simply taking the credit. For nothing.
