2025 likely had the lowest *absolute* number of murders since 1968. Think about how big of a new story the rise in murder was. Nobody cares about an even more remarkable decline. Pessimism has won regardless of what's happening in reality. https://t.co/Br4f1TeTQM
This offseason represents a moment to rebuild and reload our LCS roster for the long term - Great players who won many titles with us will move on with our blessings.
For the FlyQuest fans, all my thoughts have been on how to outdo our 2024-2025 success. The plan is pretty fucking bold if I’m honest - Scaling these heights won’t be possible overnight and will require your trust and patience, but just know that the goal of first domestic then international success is behind all decisions taken.
We’re about to start a journey back to the top of the west - I can promise you it won’t be boring!
@GrnontheScreens@Rory_Johnston Ive made some niche stuff that is very useful for me and my job. Some of it could theoretically be scaled to sell to other people in the world but 1) That gets hard without software engineering experience 2) Everyone else should just make their own custom one for themselves.
@LSLS1297@jstamby@DASK4I@JimChuong Not riskless. There are known failure modes to be considered. It's wise to assess your personal comfort levels around those failure modes and hold assets with different kinds of failure modes to diversify risk.
@LSLS1297@jstamby@DASK4I@JimChuong A system that can be removed unilaterally is a counterparty risk. Putting 100% of your assets in such a system carries risk of loss. If you can't see why that's a risk, we will have to disagree.
@LSLS1297@jstamby@DASK4I@JimChuong How does this differ from the dollar peg to gold that failed?
Bitcoin is the asset. The ledger is distributed and not controlled by anyone. You don't need to attempt to back it with a decentralized undebaseable asset like gold. It already has that property.
@LSLS1297@jstamby@DASK4I@JimChuong It's a reasonable expectation of a govt, and if you can trust your govt, of course you should use those things. If you cannot, you hold bearer assets like, cash, gold, or bitcoin. Bitcoin is unique among these in that you can more easily cross borders without confiscation.
@LSLS1297@jstamby@DASK4I@JimChuong Not ridiculous. Trust is not equal in all parts of the world. Many refugees do not have access to stocks, bank accounts, titles to houses. Govts can either take them away or lack power to protect them. It's difficult to see otherwise if you have not experienced it.
@LSLS1297@jstamby@DASK4I@JimChuong That would require a centralized entity to custody the underlying asset which defeats the purpose. They can deny your claim to gold. If you hold bitcoin keys, you have custody of that bitcoin. You can walk through warzones with it. You can memorize words and carry it in your head
