It’s not clear just yet how much revenue this new line of business will bring in. After all, all
HK major crypto exchanges are burning cash, and some are considering quitting. And mainlanders are still not allowed to trade.
This is a strong sign that China is fast relaxing its tight regulation on crypto. And HK will likely be the crypto capital of Asia. China used to own the most number of crypto-mining machines with the most computing power, and the Chinese government is one of the largest Bitcoin owners of the world.
Crypto was considered a money laundry instrument back then, and the authority wanted to keep a tight grip on cross-border capital flow. Now the attitude towards the crypto industry seems to be shifting. More licenses will be granted in the coming months.
