After listening to a GOOD preacher people go home thinking about the preacher and how inspiring and powerful the speaker was.
After listening to a GREAT preacher, people go home thinking about themselves and how much God loves them.
Pastors, #PreachTheWord this Sabbath.
The life of an eBay seller...endless returns and nonpayment. Oh, and that NWT return? If the buyer removed the tags, eBay will make me refund them anyway.

I received some pushback on my dumb joke about this video, so I’ve decided to “double down” as they say.
According to the pastor and his defenders, this service occurred before the Barbie movie came out, and has nothing to do with Barbie. This is their defense of this pastor’s behavior. I’m just the messenger.
But of course, whether it has anything to do with the Barbie movie is entirely irrelevant and completely misses the point of why most everyone finds this behavior bizarre and disturbing.
Imagine how domestic violence victims and survivors felt in that sanctuary on that Sunday. Imagine how little children felt seeing a $200 toy they might love to have reduced to splinters by an angry man with a bat and a Bible. What message did that send?
Supposedly, the message was about destroying “houses” of sin and strongholds of temptation in your life. And yes, it’s good to overcome temptation and sin. But is that ever accomplished through violence and erratic tantrums? No. Quite the contrary, it is done through self-control, patience, prayer, perseverance, and accountability.
The behavior this pastor is modeling is not safe or wise. Whatever his motives, he is effectively normalizing violence, erratic behavior, and lack of self-control.
I can tell you that as a child who’s dad sometimes broke and destroyed my things as a way to intimidate and control me, had I seen this video then, I’d have been convinced that my dad was being godly when he abused me.
I do not care what message was intended in this “service.” That’s the message it communicates to me, and I’m afraid that’s what it communicates to many abuse victims, survivors, abusers, and children.
Amazing. He references "love for Jesus," "healing and hope in Jesus" and sharing Jesus love here...but all we heard out of the @adventistchurch this week was their creepy obsession w/ controlling people's sex lives & snark, hatred, and bigotry toward the LGBTQ community. #exsda
This Sabbath I want to celebrate our @adventistchurch social media team. I’m often asked who is responsible and what does it take to run all these global channels. So here is a long summary of this large operation that involves over 100 people.
Let’s start with the why.
Adventists have 2 main relationships with their church. First and foremost, their local church. They also know they are part of a global family. This relationship to Adventism materializes on our world church channels/accounts.
What about the team?
At any given time, there are 100+ professionals working from 13 countries on the 30+ world church and ANN channels.
These are dedicated and mission focused Adventists who love Jesus and are experts in their field: Content strategists, designers, writers, project managers, video editors, pastoral care givers, etc.
But what is a channel?
A channel is a page/account in each platform. For example, the official Instagram Account of the Seventh-day Adventist World Church in English is one channel. The same thing in Spanish is another channel.
We operate global accounts in:
- English
- Spanish
- French
- Portuguese
We create content and offer pastoral care on:
- Instagram
- X (former Twitter)
- Facebook
- YouTube
- TikTok
- LinkedIn
- Telegram
- WhatsApp
- Kwai.
But how much content is created?
Our team creates 20,000 original posts per year. It’s a lot of work, made very carefully and efficiently.
Every post is researched, written, edited, designed, art directed, verified, scheduled and published. All this happens because we hope that when you finally see it, we will be helping you to understand the Bible to find freedom, healing and hope in Jesus.
What about the community?
Our team reads EVERY comment/reply, responds to what is appropriate, and connects in minutes or hours with everyone who DMs us for pastoral care.
Social Media isn’t mass media. This means we must engage with every comment to build a genuine community that shares, comments and connects with each other.
What about pastoral care?
Since 2019 we have offered 1 on 1 online pastoral care to 700k+ unique individuals, totaling millions of messages back and forth. Most are not Adventists yet. All people have come to expect pastoral care on our world church channels. Our team believes that no one should experience life alone, so we are there for them.
What are the numbers?
The sum of our reach across all channels is often above 30 million per month. Our goal is to reach 50 million+ every month by GC Session 2025. I’m sure our follower count is now above 3 million but we don’t track that as a primary number.
Who leads the team?
The Communication Department of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. That’s how we call our world headquarters.
More specifically, Pastor Williams Costa Jr @wcostaj, myself, Alyssa Truman @AlyTruman, and Karen Glassford @KeltyGlassford set the vision and strategy for content creation and online pastoral care. Our larger team delivers on this vision through the strategy we developed.
Can can you help?
If you’ve read this far, I want to invite you to pray for our team. We have seen their passion for Jesus over the years. Even in the midst of suffering they are always focused and dedicated. So please take a moment this Sabbath to celebrate them by praying for their families, their hopes and their dreams.
And if it is you who need prayer, DM the @adventistchurch and we will be happy to pray for you.
Finally, if you know someone brilliant who could serve in our team, please let us know also.
But the idea that all 22 million agree on this issue? THIS????? What an unhinged, deceptive, ignorant, misguided, and hateful take that also blatantly ignores the percentage of that 22 million that are LGBTQ+. The audacity of that man's bad takes truly knows no bounds.
@adventistchurch@3abn you would be finally showing your moral bankruptcy, but at LEAST you'd have a BIT of integrity if you just came out and said "we don't accept anything but straight people" and were done with this faux debate.
@inthepinesart@Lhayes67 Oh my gosh...a weird old-type "email" from someone says a close friend told cvs and cvs told a Bush kid and the Bush kid told someone else?! Wow, if that isn't stone cold proof, what is?
TEXAS: REALLY?? When will it be enough for you ??
