Supporters of jailed former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan have launched a long march towards Islamabad, demanding his release.

Thousands gathered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party governs, after talks to prevent the protest stalled.

I’ve been instructed to call on the public not to attempt to march or protest nearby Adiala jail on 27 March. I’ve heard from sources that this may be used as an excuse for the establishment to launch a “counter” assault on the jail (Which my father is being held in), which could endanger his life. Please do not give them any reasons for “accidents” to happen to my father during the protest.

Reuters, citing a spokesperson for the Punjab chapter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reported that police arrested Aleema Khan, the sister of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, at her home in Lahore today.

🔹 Pakistani authorities have stepped up security in Islamabad ahead of the nationwide protests, which are expected to focus on the PTI’s demand for Imran Khan’s release. The former captain of Pakistan’s national cricket team has been in prison since August 2023.

Adding my support here to GC and the other former international captains. I hope the court ordered medical assessment be allowed to run its course, and that family visits continue. I hope Imran Khan is treated with the dignity anyone deserves

BREAKING NEWS: 22 Former international cricket captains have once again written a letter to Pakistan PM over the treatment for Imran Khan. They first wrote a similar letter in February and this one comes after Pak allegedly didn’t completely comply with SC directions.
They have laid down 3 demands:
1. That the medical board directed by the Supreme Court — including Mr Khan's own doctors — be permitted to complete a full and independent assessment of his health, particularly the reported loss of vision in his right eye.
2. That the weekly family visits reinstated by the Court be honoured without interruption or administrative delay.
3. That whatever the outcome of that medical assessment, the treatment recommended by it be provided without delay.

Three Indians - Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar are among the 22 former captains.

This guy shouldn’t even be called an animal, animals make more sense than he does. Beating a man with a baseball bat in front of his young daughter, who sees her father as her hero, is beyond disgusting. Men driving these “Dallay” seem to forget how humans are supposed to behave.
