@venkyganesan@anshublog@vas Thanks for clarifying this @venkyganesan. I stand corrected in my assessment, but I hope you understand that no founder likes to be an option bet even if that's a smart way for a multi-stage fund to construct a portfolio :)
@vas@vas, this is exactly the kind of thinking that explains why @Accel has done just one good seed deal over the last 3-4 years. Any guesses on which one I'm talking about? ;)
@venkyganesan@venkyganesan it's all good no need to damage control now, you're lucky you're a growth investor anyway, but ain't nobody raising seed from @MenloVentures no more
@HarryStebbings Also the only good seed deal @MenloVentures has done in recent years is @higgsfield and they botched it up by not excercising their call option lol
@HarryStebbings This is why you should never raise seed from a multi-stage, you’re just a call option for them that they might close anytime just like I do on my Robinhood 🤣
@HarryStebbings, @MenloVentures doesn’t own >4% of Anthropic to make 50bn+, Anthropic’s ARR growth has stalled big time last quarter so I wouldn’t just confidently put these numbers out there and jinx it for them haha. Menlo did invest in the 4BN round but with a smaller check, they went big with an SPV in the next round at 18B or so
@deedydas@deedydas idk man, seed rounds are like anything upto 100M now, so if you’re investing like anywhere from 5M to 30M in a seed deal and you’re not a gigantic fund, I’d have to say you can be a high conviction seed investor like @saranormous
@HadickM@HadickM, you're just a hater. SBF literally deployed less money than every multi-stage fund in that period and mogged every single one of them. Give credit where it's due and fwiw, @dragonfly had a spray and pray rep in crpyto
