as a good start into the new year, the review 'Optic flow based spatial vision in insects' (https://t.co/4pyhGybGjN) was published in the special issue 'Unraveling the neural basis of spatial orientation in arthropods' (J.Comp.Physiol.A; ed. Uwe Homberg and Keram Pfeiffer).
While I spent a lot of time in grad school learning about proteins at the #synapses between #neurons, I never felt like I really grasped the scale. While huge numbers get thrown around, knowing there may be > 100 trillion in the brain did little to boost my intuition.

I'm putting together a Deep Learning for Neuroscience course at UW. What resources should I check out so I avoid reinventing the wheel?! Maybe you know a similar course? Or great online tutorials? Anything goes!
When the kids get too big for cuddles🐥😆
This kingfisher dad is good at providing 🐟 but now the chicks are a week old he's finding brooding feels more like crowdsurfing 😆
Want to know how single cells in the fly brain control when and where individual eggs are deposited?
Come by my poster #SfN22 Sunday 1-5pm TT2 to learn more (or to say hi!).

What they don’t tell you about doing a PhD in behavioral neuroscience is that it does not come with the also requisite degrees in electrical engineering and computer programming to make anything work
