Peter Singer encourages people to support Animal Equality an end animal agriculture.
In an interview published in the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, influential philosopher and world-renowned animal ethics expert Peter Singer highlighted Animal Equality’s work to end industrial animal farming. He says that stopping our collective consumption of animal products and supporting organisations that defend animals are two of the most important actions we can take.
Many of us who became involved in the movement to defend animals did so thanks to Peter Singer’s Animal Liberation.
It means so much to us to have a figure like Peter Singer publicly support the work we do at Animal Equality✊💚
‼️⚠️Animal Equality UK has released footage from a farmed trout slaughterboat in Scotland, operated by Kames, a known supplier to @waitrose. Fish were crowded, not stunned, cut while conscious, and left to suffocate❤️🩹
Our Executive Director, Abigail Penny, said: “Kames touts itself as a small-scale, artisanal, family-run business, but consumers should be under no illusion – like every other form of factory farming, this is industrialised suffering” and called on the @scotgov to introduce slaughter legislation for farmed fish.
Thanks to @TheGrocer for reporting these findings.

🐷🐽 Pigs in cages suffer terribly. They cannot turn around, build a nest for their babies, or properly nurse their young. Many frantically bite the bars in frustration.
The Government must not ban farrowing cages only to replace them with another ‘temporary’ cage.
We’ve joined our friends at @ciwf@anima_uk@FOURPAWSUK@humaneworlduk@onekindtweet and @RSPCA_official to write to @DefraGovUK urging ministers to implement a FULL cage ban for mother pigs.
These animals endure lives of abject misery inside factory farms. The very least they deserve is to be freed from cruel cages.
Thank you @katiecharris at @Daily_Express for covering this important story:

20 years of fighting for animals.
Petitions signed. MPs emailed. Recipes shared. Placards imagined. And so much more.
This is just the beginning, and a reminder of what we can build together. Here's to the next 20 years!
For the animals 🩵🐷🐔🐟🐮
#LoveLambsWeek starts today. 🐑
Mary McCartney has joined MPs, peers and organisations in calling for an urgent end to the routine tail docking and castration of lambs.
We’re proud to launch this new campaign with exclusive coverage in the Daily Express, bringing attention to the cruel practices that lambs continue to face in the farming system.
Love Lambs Week is all about helping everyone see lambs as individuals, not products on a plate, and raising awareness of the pain and suffering these routine procedures cause.
A huge thank you to Mary McCartney, the MPs and peers who have backed our call, and @animal_equality, @ciwf, @fourpawsint, @humaneworlduk, @onekindtweet and @MoveTheWorldUK for standing with us and speaking up for lambs.
Now, we’re asking you to stand with us too.

‼️ BREAKING ‼️
ANIMAL RISING SUPPORTER TO LIVE INSIDE FARROWING CRATE FOR 3 WEEKS
This morning, a farrowing crate was placed in Trafalgar Square. Replicating the time a mother pig would spend in one, Michelle Farnham, an Animal Rising Supporter, will live, eat, and sleep there, showing the reality of the life of a mother pig in factory farms.
In similar crates, the majority of mother pigs in the UK will be forced to give birth and try to raise their children. They can’t even turn around inside them.
This is just the beginning, later today the first undercover investigation of End Factory Farming will be dropping.

Such powerful and creative campaigning from our friends at @AnimalRising - thank you for shining a light on the suffering of mother pigs cruelly caged and trapped in filthy factory farms ❤️🩹

More than 3/4s of Scottish salmon farms certified as “sustainable” broke the ASC environmental rules last year without losing their accreditation.
Abigail Penny, Executive Director of @animal_equality, asked how accepting so many breaches is “supposed to deter bad practice”.
"What a cosy little arrangement these farms find themselves in. They can go about their business, causing untold suffering to animals and wreaking havoc on the environment, mostly without any real risk of repercussion,” she said. “Consumers are being sorely misled into believing that this certification is something far more robust than it is in reality."

❌ It turns out animal cruelty isn’t in fashion.
@PVHcorp - owners of @CalvinKlein and @TommyHilfiger - are linked to American supermarket chain @kroger through a shared board member: Amanda Sourry.
And that’s bad news for PVH, because that ties them to @kroger’s betrayal of millions of animals.
In 2016, @kroger promised to transition to 100% cage-free eggs by 2025. But they broke that promise, leaving hens to live out their lives in cages so small they cannot spread their wings.
If @PVHcorp thinks they can look the other way while Sourry does nothing to help hens, they are wrong.
📢 Add your voice, tag @pvhcorp and tell them to hold Amanda Sourry accountable.

Will you join us to fight for the hens trapped in cages?
Tomorrow, we'll be in London to protest against businesses tied to one of the cruellest practices in factory farming.
Cage-free is not cruelty-free, but companies must not be allowed to get away with not even doing the bare-minimum.
🗓️ Date: Friday, 28th August
🕐 Time: 1:00-3:30PM
📍Location: London, Soho

It's day 16 of our twenty days of action for twenty years of Animal Equality!
Today, you'll need a keen eye to tell illegal cages from approved cruelty 🔍
In 1999, the UK banned the use of gestation cages in pig farming.
These cages confined a mother pig for her entire pregnancy, and were so small that she could not even turn around.
But factory farming industry still uses farrowing cages, which cruelly confine the mother pig for the five weeks from just before she gives birth until her piglets are weaned.
They look the same, and for the trapped mothers they essentially feel the same. So why is one banned while the other remains legal?
❓ Take our quiz to see if you can tell the two apart.
✉️ Then, email your MP and ask them to support a ban on the caging of mother pigs.

Four more days to go. Thank you for taking action for animals, today and everyday!
Chickens too weak to stand. Bodies left rotting next to feeders. Birds bred to grow so fast, their own bodies can't keep up.
Our latest investigation exposes three intensive chicken farms in Argentina 🐔
Bone deformities. Burns. Skin lesions from lying in their own waste.
Millions dying before they even reach the point of slaughter, all because the industry pushed their bodies past breaking point.
We reported what we found. The inspection that followed barely scratched the surface.
This is what the chicken meat industry looks like behind closed doors, and it's built entirely on suffering.
We can choose to not support these systems. Every meal that leaves animals off our plates is a choice to opt-out of this suffering.

Today, we want your delicious plant-based recipes 😋
Our Love Veg cookbook has been downloaded thousands of times, helping people to keep animals off their plate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
But cooking is personal, and the best recipes are often the ones we get from family, friends, or strangers (and some we even concoct ourselves).
And maybe it's one of these recipes that will be the next big Love Veg hit.
So whether it's a savoury breakfast, a hearty dinner, or a sweet treat, we want your plant-based recipes!

It's day 14 of our twenty days of action for twenty years of Animal Equality! 🎉
Meet Chris, one of our in-person Animal Protectors, who shows up time and time again for animals.
"I join Animal Equality actions to help end factory farming and build a world where all animals are respected and protected." — Chris, Animal Protector 🐟
Chris has stood outside the Scottish Parliament to demand an end to the cruelty of salmon farming — up to 77 million fish are farmed and killed in the UK every year, with almost no legal protection. This is unacceptable.

5/5: Cage-free is not cruelty-free, but it is a promise made to these animals and which politicians can deliver on.
