Expected goals as a metric is widely agreed to be at its most valuable by looking at averages over a span of ~15 games, but it still can provide useful insights over smaller periods too to aid video analysis
Had a play around with FBRef and Fotmob data and created a Tableau dashboard looking at the top shooters and their NPxG in the Premier League so far this season (those with 4+ shots). Early days and a very small sample size of 4 games but some interesting insights already 🧵📈

- Had a slow start to the season with 0 goals in his first 3 games before scoring 2 at the weekend
- His cumulative shot quality in games 1-4 has went from 0.11 - 0.87 - 0.71 - 1.18 so can assume he's beginning to get up to speed this season
