Attended @FLIARA_Project event (Italy),focusing on empowering women in agriculture & rural dev. From policy discussions & innovation showcases/field visits, highlighted how female-led initiatives are driving sustainable transformation across EU rural areas #farm#women@teagasc
🇮🇹 On January 29-30, over 70 stakeholders and rural innovators gathered in Rende, Italy, for the FLIARA 3rd Community of Practice, a two-day event focused on empowering women in agriculture and rural development. From policy discussions and innovation showcases to field visits and real-world case studies, the event highlighted how female-led initiatives are driving sustainable transformation across Europe’s rural areas.
🔍 What did we achieve?
✅ Shaped future policies by gathering direct feedback from stakeholders during interactive workshops
✅ Engaged with six FLIARA Innovation Ambassadors sharing real-world success stories
✅ Ten of our FLIARA Ambassadors had the chance to interact and network.
✅ Explored Calabria’s pioneering rural initiatives, learning from women making a difference
✅ Connected stakeholders, researchers, and decision-makers to foster collaboration
This is just the beginning. The insights from this Community of Practice will help build better support systems for women innovators, ensuring they have the tools, recognition, and networks they need to thrive.

A brilliant piece of writing by the editor of the @RoscommonHerald: I implore every member of the Government to read it and learn https://t.co/l0cEd4MM0y
A wet and windy evening in the West as over 30,000 premises head into their 11th night without power and sadly some have a forecast of 4 more days before power is restored and cold nights ahead. My heart goes out to anyone still without power.
Many Galway homes continue to be severely impacted by power outages and has potential to impact on mental and & wellbeing of people in these communities
I have just been informed that hundreds of old age pensioners who turned up
for their weekly payments at post offices in some of the worst storm effected areas of the midlands
and west have been told they cannot be
paid today due to
computer outages . This
is absolutely unacceptable . I have asked the Taoiseach to
urgently intervene ..more shortly #StormEowyn
@ciaranmullooly No power in many pockets of East Galway. I am away with work and have not being able to even make phone contact with my Mum - a very difficult week. She has no power, no water and no phone - mobiles or landlines not functioning #StormEowyn
@ciaranmullooly@independent_ire@RichardODonoghu I was just wondering, are the @ESBNetworks employees getting enough rest between shifts? I am 7 days without power now and it's very frustrating but I still don't want to see anyone injured at work from being overtired or stressed. It's been a very long week for them too.
I sent emails to Government Minister’s two years ago and again last year about lack of planning for extreme weather and no flood warnings. Today I sent the below email, hopefully we will finally see some more planning, resourcing and real adaptation.
The cold is tough on 100k without power but the rain will be welcome by as one follower said they are harvesting the rainfall to fill water butts to flush toilets on day 7 of no power or water. While another follower is taking water from local stream to fill toilets.
Difficult being away, not able to make ANY contact. I have not spoken to my mother all week,NO electricity, hence NO water,& NO phone coverage. #Forgotten part E.Galway, with more focus #Rosc side constituency. #Health#Safety of humans (& animals) needs renewed focus #StormÉowyn
Panel discussion with Irene Leonardelli, University Calabria moderating Ambassador Innovation Journey, in responding to Ursula Kelly @CormacTagging “You are an inspiration for so many women in Ireland” #FLIARA#Innovation#rural#agriculture#Teagasc
Sometimes an interview stays with you long after recording for news. John McDonagh from An Cheathrú Rua is 82 and is unwell and freezing cold since the storm knocked out his electricity in Conemara 5 days ago #storm#Conemara#gaeltacht
