Monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance is a common, asymptomatic plasma-cell disorder in older adults that can progress to cancer or systemic illness. Diagnosis warrants follow-up, but treatment is not required unless progression is confirmed.

One of the most rewarding aspects of working in academic research is the joy you receive from mentoring the next generation of scientists, congratulations to Dr. Hopper and all of the other @MayoGradSchool graduates! 🎓
Every woman, I repeat, every woman of every age, every color, every political affiliation should condemn this, should raise their voice about this, should be terrified about this. Just a few short months ago women’s health advocates were optimistic for the first time in generations, today we should be alarmed. Women’s health research cannot afford to be cancelled like this, our lives are on the line.

Great thread, as scientists we need to do a better job explaining to lay people how the scientific process works, how even small obscure advances can lead to significant impacts on the wellbeing of our society
Since we're talking about funding of absurd research by NIH and other federal agencies, the funded scientists:
- watching flies fuck
- giving rats massages
- spending years digging into why jellyfish glow
- tracking penguin poop from space
- using horseshoe crab blood
