Unfortunately, the winds of war are blowing once again in the Middle East, in Ukraine and in many other parts of the world, sowing violence, terror and death, and once again affecting many innocent people. Let us not allow these winds to extinguish the flame of hope and peace, even when it seems fragile and flickering.
I renew my hope that we will persevere on the path of dialogue, encounter and diplomacy. This is the only path capable of leading to a just and lasting peace, in which peoples can live in reconciliation, mutual security and respect for the dignity of every person.

The World Cup group stages brought joy to people around the world - but we must not forget about the human rights perspective. While teams went head-to-head in stadiums across Canada, the US and Mexico, ICE arrests doubled, many fans and athletes on the US travel ban list were denied entry to the country to watch the games, and players and fans were victims of racism.

We still have time to make this a World Cup for all, and there must be change beyond the games. Mass detentions and deportations must end, and the US must become a place free from discrimination and hate. We called and continue to call for no fear, no crackdowns and no excuses as we hit the quarter-finals.

Make the World Cup an arena of joy, not fear. Humanity Must Win.

We cannot consider #AI to be morally neutral. In reality, every technical tool embodies choices and priorities through what it measures, ignores, and optimizes, and how it classifies people and situations. Ethical discernment cannot be limited to asking whether we are using a system for good or bad purposes. A United Nations’ independent commission has found that Israel is deliberately targeting Palestinian children.

Commission chair Srinivasan Muralidhar described the “systematic killing and harming of children” including since the so-called ceasefire was declared in October 2025.

On 5th December 2024, Amnesty released a report determining that Israel was committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza – a genocide that continues today.

Our report demonstrated that Israel carried out acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention, with the specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza, including children.

Children should never be the cost of conflict. Justice and accountability now.

The Tripoli Security Directorate has strongly refuted circulating social media claims alleging the killing of a Libyan doctor by a migrant, describing the reports as entirely fabricated.

In an official statement, the Directorate categorically denied the rumors, emphasizing that they “have no basis in reality.”

It confirmed that no such incident occurred and urged the public not to believe unverified information spreading online.

The Directorate further warned that it will pursue legal measures against individuals responsible for disseminating the misleading news, noting that such actions threaten public security and aim to incite panic among citizens.

It called on residents to rely only on information from verified official sources and to report any suspicious accounts spreading false rumors.

UNHCR is deeply saddened by the loss of 17 Sudanese #refugee lives in a shipwreck off Tobruk yesterday.

33 people were on board only 7 survived. 9 remain missing.

Ending the war in Sudan & expanding safe, legal pathways are the only solutions to prevent such tragedies.
