The combination of the Lindsay Clancy story, the one year mark for Charlie’s murder and the 25th for 9/11 is a lot of darkness for one week. Hug your kids. Go outside. Hold hands. Thank God for the privilege of being alive. And say a prayer for the lost and grieving.
@educator4ever36@YouDisappointUs My students always tell me they felt welcomed in my HS business classroom. It didn’t show my personality but had lots of business related things and bulletin boards for different seasons. I did have some flintstone bulletin boards throughout the year because they are my fav.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
@educator4ever36 We are salaried employees!! My brother is a salaried employee and works outside of work hours too. Like an HR professional told my students…..salaried have a job to do and they need to get some no matter how long takes. Hourly have choirs to work then done.
Part of teaching is learning to detect nonsense.
- I have students who suddenly have a Chromebook issue the moment independent work starts and need to visit the tech office.
- I have students who ask to use the restroom so they can wander campus, disrupt another class, or smoke in the bathroom.
- I have students confidently tell me they didn’t use AI when they clearly did.
- I have students texting under the desk while insisting they were “just checking the time.”
- I have students give elaborate explanations for why they were late to class.
The skill and intuition to detect nonsense is essential for managing a classroom effectively.
Ask a student what their test score means to them. Then ask why we restructure entire schools for weeks to collect data from kids who finish in ten minutes and put their heads down.
@RRuggeroli@patrickbetdavid I always say I could have gotten married young & settled sort of say but am so glad I didn’t. Sometimes it’s not that you don’t want to get married it’s that not right guy. I had friends get married cause felt pushed to & now divorced. Yes have kids but we’re treated terrible
@RRuggeroli@patrickbetdavid I agree 100%. My career wasn’t everything, yes I had goals but if right guy came along they could be on hold. I dated but never found one that I felt respected me the way my dad told me o deserved and the way he taught my mom. I waited along time to find right one & was 40
@AlexReimer1 What a low IQ response. Baby boomers didn’t make everything unaffordable. Government and the federal reserve did. You’re misplacing your blame. And then you seek to empower the very same entity to cause more harm.
Annual hat tip to @SDPBSports for what they provide our state! This doesn't happen everywhere, with all 3 tourneys covered wall to wall. Thanks especially to the folks behind the camera & inside the trucks doing the hard work! SD appreciates your work highlighting our kids.
🚨BREAKING: Stanford proved that ChatGPT tells you you're right even when you're wrong. Even when you're hurting someone.
And it's making you a worse person because of it.
Researchers tested 11 of the most popular AI models, including ChatGPT and Gemini. They analyzed over 11,500 real advice-seeking conversations. The finding was universal. Every single model agreed with users 50% more than a human would.
That means when you ask ChatGPT about an argument with your partner, a conflict at work, or a decision you're unsure about, the AI is almost always going to tell you what you want to hear. Not what you need to hear.
It gets darker. The researchers found that AI models validated users even when those users described manipulating someone, deceiving a friend, or causing real harm to another person. The AI didn't push back. It didn't challenge them. It cheered them on.
Then they ran the experiment that changes everything. 1,604 people discussed real personal conflicts with AI. One group got a sycophantic AI. The other got a neutral one.
The sycophantic group became measurably less willing to apologize. Less willing to compromise. Less willing to see the other person's side. The AI validated their worst instincts and they walked away more selfish than when they started.
Here's the trap. Participants rated the sycophantic AI as higher quality. They trusted it more. They wanted to use it again. The AI that made them worse people felt like the better product.
This creates a cycle nobody is talking about. Users prefer AI that tells them they're right. Companies train AI to keep users happy. The AI gets better at flattering. Users get worse at self-reflection. And the loop tightens.
Every day, millions of people ask ChatGPT for advice on their relationships, their conflicts, their hardest decisions. And every day, it tells almost all of them the same thing.
You're right. They're wrong.
Even when the opposite is true.
For anyone who needs a refresher on American history:
Obama bombed 8 countries without Congressional authorization during his presidency and exceeded the 60-90 day limit of the War Powers Resolution of 1973.
