@ResponsePS I’m only a year and a half in am completely the other way. From Day 1 I’ve made sure I remember it is just a job at the end of the day.
Friends & family first.
@Police_Tebb @karolinamilena Some fella was kicking off for colleagues and they had a bit of a scrap with him. As soon as he saw me he calmed down and said “you treated me well last time so I’ll talk to you”.
@KugaCop I have no issue with doing crap stuff.
My issue is when people on shift try to get out of constants, statements, taking reports etc because they think they’re too good for it.
Anyone in a force with area cars?
Mine is bringing them back and they’ll go to the most “proactive officers”.
The attitude very much seems to be that old sweats will rock up, do the bare minimum and then leave all the hard stuff “to the kids”.
Seems toxic imo
And by hard stuff I mean statements, custody runs etc.
Bits that those longer in service try to get out of doing as it is.
My opinion is, if you’re all on the same team, pull your weight in doing the shit jobs.
I’ve had a bit of a rough time at work recently. I’ve dealt with too many jobs involving death and sadness for my liking
Felt like I needed a break, tried to get some AL and it has been declined because of MSL.
How are we ever meant to get leave if we’re always below MSL? 🙁
@PcdaProbie After your last night, set an alarm for 1230/ 1300 on your first rest day. You’ll feel awful all day but it’ll help you sleep that night and be up at a decent time on 2nd rest day.
I’ve found getting up early on my last test day helps me sleep for the first early.
@Police_Tebb There was a night shift last set where we had no one free. Two grade 1s came in and we had to resort to response officers from your force coming over to us to help.
Well and truly fucked.
So frustrating when old sweats moan and try to get out of constants because they think they’re too good to do them. Last time I checked, we’re all part of a response team so it does very much come under your job description 🙃
Feeling very lucky to be as supported as I am.
I’ve had to go to my skipper with a few work related issues and his first questions are generally “how is this making you feel?” and “what can we do to resolve this so you don’t feel like that?”
