February 16th – the Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania.

United by King Mindaugas in the mid-13th century, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania served for centuries as a Western outpost, defending a civilization founded on respect for human freedom, dignity and life.

In the 20th century the Lithuanian state was restored in the turmoil of World War I and was defended under the most challenging conditions.

We will protect our state as our greatest treasure. We will remain vigilant, we will fight, and we will prevail – just as we have many times before.
