For only the second time since the Reformation, the Holy Mass has been offered within the ruins of the former Norbertine abbey of Bayham, in Kent. The Sung Mass, celebrated by Nobertine Subprior, Fr Stephen Morrison, in the traditional Premonstratensian use of the Roman Rite, was the culmination of a special day commemorating Bayham's Norbertine heritage. It was fitting to hold this day during this 900th anniversary year of the Papal Bull, 'Apostolicæ Disciplinæ' of Pope Honorius II approving the Norbertine Order (1126). Prior to the Mass, there was a Norbertine medieval chant workshop (courtesy of the Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge, participants then sang the Mass), short historical talks and a family rosary. The Mass concluded with the veneration of the relic of St Nobert.
In his homily, Fr Stephen said: “I am privileged to offer the Holy Sacrifice again here on this sacred ground, the once rang to the chant of the Divine Office, and no fewer than three daily Masses. We give thanks for that continuity we find in the Church. We give thanks for our faith, the Faith of our Fathers, and we give thanks that out of the ruins of worldly crises, God continues to plant the seeds of new growth…Like St Norbert, may we treasure the Holy Mass to our dying breath and draw from it the grace to become Saints in the times that it has pleased Almighty God to place us.”
Bayham Abbey (dedicated to Our Lady in her Annunciation) near Tunbridge Wells was founded in 1208 from two pre-existing communities, the abbeys of Brockley (St Mary's) in Kent and of Otham (St Mary and St Lawrence) in Sussex. Jordan, Abbot of Otham, then became the first Abbot of Bayham. Via the merger, it can be seen as a daughter house of Sulby and Durford, both of which descended from the first English Norbertine Abbey, Newhouse (Lincolnshire), founded from our Abbey of Licques (Flanders) in 1143. Bayham was one of over thirty Norbertine houses in England until its dissolution under Cardinal Wolsey in 1525, some years before King Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries.

Thank you, Father! This is exactly what I’ve been proposing! We have to change our language when it comes to talking about those who struggle with same sex attraction.

To call someone “gay” or “lesbian” or “LGBTQ etc” is to call someone by their disorder.

It strips the human person of their God given dignity. So good to see some priests saying this so clearly!

It seems that the SSPX’s strategy is to force the Pope to excommunicate them as schismatics so that the very next day, they can apply for interfaith dialogue, be met in the Vatican by an official delegation, get treated like royalty, pray with the pope (with a photo-op), and perform formal liturgical functions in St. Peter’s.

Or, does this only work for Anglican women larping as bishops?
