Born and raised in Massachusetts, moved to Austin in 2021, moved to Tampa in 2023. Moved back to Boston in 2025.
With high confidence I can say that weather, environment, and geography matters A TON for human development.
The general vibe of a city is real. Sunshine makes people feel better. Different cities attract totally different cohorts of human beings doing totally different activities.
Austin was the first place I moved outside of MA.
I found a totally unique blend of young people who were tapped into new ways of thinking with deep southern, Texas roots.
Where I was born and raised, online content was not discussed. Startups were not discussed. Psychedelics were not discussed. Meditation was not discussed.
In Austin, all of this was top of mind for most people I met.
Austin created a totally different frame to understand life, and develop as a young man through.
In Tampa, I found a deep love and appreciation for sunshine and the beach. My wife and I spent almost every Saturday on St. Pete beach. Tremendous.
I found that Tampa had a totally different vibe from Boston and Austin. Both in activities and in demographic.
It felt more old-money. Felt sleepier + on the come up. While Austin was having a total cultural moment, I kept thinking to myself that Tampa was a slept-on, B tier city that had a ton of opportunity to grow. In the next 10 years, I still think this will happen.
Moving back to Boston, Iโm still figuring out what Iโm experiencing.
Iโm from here. I have history here. I went to college here. But having the Austin and Tampa experiences fresh in my consciousness, I canโt help but consider how transformational moving across the country was.
In summary: Every city has its own unique set of variables. Iโm forever grateful I got a taste of Austin, Tampa, and Boston during my 20โs. Along with many other things, experiencing different cities has shaped my worldview in dramatic ways!
@therobertbrooks Congrats Rob! Amazing work so far man.
In addition to what you've already shared, are there any other key initiatives that have contributed to this dramatic performance?
Incredible to basically triple top line and bottom line within 12mo.
My wife and I are also born/raised + went to college New England. 2021-2025, Spent two years in Austin and two years in Tampa before returning to Boston last summer. Would highly recommend both cities - tremendously different culture, people and experiences altogether.
Top five greatest things we ever did was living in different cities during our 20โs!

@thedanielokon Have you focused on multiple businesses in one industry so far?
Think this would apply to somebody who has their hand in agency/brand/newsletter/real estate etc etc all at once?
