I am unreasonably excited about self-driving. It will be the first technology in many decades to visibly terraform outdoor physical spaces and way of life. Less parked cars. Less parking lots. Much greater safety for people in and out of cars. Less noise pollution. More space reclaimed for humans. Human brain cycles and attention capital freed up from “lane following” to other pursuits. Cheaper, faster, programmable delivery of physical items and goods. It won’t happen overnight but there will be the era before and the era after.
@DamienERNST1@marcodzo Nope. Completely different neural network for computer vision. Obvious to anyone who has tried it. When FSD is enabled, the built-in screen displays a perfect representation of the surroundings. You’re drawing conclusions about 2025 tech based on 2016 tech, basically. So wrong.
@BitcoinCarl_ He doesn’t see the point of a long-term value storage system. He probably sees it as risk aversion. Instead of storing, he takes risks and invests everything in businesses. Add a few heated clashes with maximalists, and it turns into something personal.
@SawyerMerritt Moreover, the screen and the UI will be the only elements that will age very quickly. It's better to make them as small and unobtrusive as possible. Nonexistent might even be better.
@peterktodd ESP also has the ability to instantly induce a violent yaw moment by acting on the braking torque of one or more wheels. Tesla has been supporting OTA for ESP for about 12 years, and rightly so.
@teslaownersSV He could have united/inspired everyone with exciting engineering wonders. He is one of the few who can do so. But lately, he has devoted most of his public discourse to political pettiness (like so many others), divisive shortcuts, and to sharing fake news. Back to engineering!
@Cirincione@Tesla@elonmusk@Twitter Same here. Investor, M3P driver with deposit for a founders edition roadster (for 5 years!). Musk personal branding was about superior engineering for humanity. Quite inspiring. Now it is a political mess, daily drama and « pump and dump » for non reason. Noise is not inspiring.
