@HMogan24@CollapseDiaries Yeah, I think Iβm trying to stay positive even though we know itβs already well underway... The last few years have been hard on the reef, just ask @ProfTerryHughes!
@Donatello_Oz @L_DeWeaver @CousinsKevin100 @tinlizard33@LockTheGate@chromecastings@SueHigginson_ I picked up a copy of the Terania Times at Christmas.
Their locally recorded 2022 (year to date) rainfall totals are in a league of their own...
One resident told me they recorded 1150mm of rain in 24 hours on the eve of the flood... and most of that fell in in just 6-8 hours. π³
@JoshButler Youβre not the only one.
It popped into my head yesterday whilst I was hanging out my washing and I shook my head at the sky and wondered why on earth my brain chose to recall that phrase...
@T2mike Cheers Mike!
There are a lot of nervous people in Lismore who are watching this system approach.
Hopefully it doesnβt create another mega flood like the February disaster. βΉοΈ
@AnnieKia Yes... just down the road from a friends place. There was damage to that section of the road before the flood but it was still passable. The raging torrent on that fateful night just wiped it out completely.
Seeing the state of the roads around Lismore really puts into perspective the volume and violence of water that was coursing its way into town on the night of the historic flood.
Keerong Road was already bad but now itβs impassable.
The cost of climate inaction is stacking up.
The last few months have been crazy to say the least. An apocalyptic wet dream that now stinks of mud and mould and bleach.
Lismore was flood ready for inundation not catastrophic obliteration.
My heart is broken but Iβm tentatively trying to piece myself back together again...
