Today at 1:57PM Eastern Time, the Astronauts aboard Artemis ll, currently on the far side of the Moon, became the farthest Humans have ever been from Earth, breaking the record set by the crew of Apollo 13 in 1970.
Itโs not a straight shot to the far side of the Moon! ๐
Over approximately 10 days, the Artemis II astronauts will orbit Earth twice before looping around the far side of the Moon in a figure eight and returning home.
Liftoff.
The Artemis II mission launched from @NASAKennedy at 6:35pm ET (2235 UTC), propelling four astronauts on a journey around the Moon.
Artemis II will pave the way for future Moon landings, as well as the next giant leap โ astronauts on Mars.
He would have turned 52. Happy birthday, Billy Herrington. We miss you.
