March Madness won’t be the same without Sister Jean. Thinking about the Loyola University Chicago community and everyone who loved this remarkable woman. https://t.co/9O09E9zdMA
"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."
Rest in Peace, Jane Goodall 🙏🏻
“We need to collaborate, we need to get together, we need countries and individuals to work together to make this a better world so that we can be a little bit proud of what we leave for our children.” — Dr. Jane Goodall, UNESCO, 19 October 2024.
Dr. Jane Goodall delivered these words at @UNESCO in a historic address before a thousand young activists, decision makers and scientists. Today, we pay tribute to a woman who changed history: Dr. Jane Goodall. A pioneer whose life was devoted to the protection of nature, the sharing of knowledge, and the respect for all living beings.
At #UNESCO, she stood before the world with a message of hope, reminding us that our future depends on caring for gorillas, for wildlife, and for our common Earth. Her words were simple yet profound: hope lies in action, and each of us holds the power to protect the fragile web of life that sustains us.
For generations to come, she will remain proof that another world is possible.
Her passing is an immense loss — and also a renewed call to action.

Last night I used an 11" telescope and two cameras to capture the Strawberry Moon as it hung low in the sky. My goal was to reveal all the hidden color that is too faint for your eyes to see, telling the story of the moon's trauma.

If you've also used worksheets to teach your students math, then I've recorded a webinar you'll want to check out. It's called Why We Should Reconsider Using Worksheets (And What We Should Be Doing Instead), with K-5 & 6-12 versions.

Beatrix Potter used a portion of her wealth to buy up property in the Lake District. She did so to protect the land & curb development. I think about this a lot in consideration of the ways many use their wealth these days. The world needs more Potters.
Currently editing tonight's shot... and WOW.
This is probably my new favorite ISS transit shot... beating out the one I captured with the silhouette over Tycho crater.
Here's that photo for reference:
From our earliest days, Black history has always been American history – and Black folks have profoundly shaped our American culture through music, art, literature, sports, and beyond. One month a year is not sufficient to celebrate the power of the movements and the people who have fought for the rights we enjoy today. That’s something that we have to do each and every day, as we strive to live up to their example and make sure our children and grandchildren remember their stories.
The world cannot survive without this teenager.
At 18, he dropped out of college to clean 90% of the ocean by 2040.
He proved everyone wrong by creating robots that eat trash.
This is the story of the largest cleanup in human history:
