@bri_guy_ny data centers are ultimately for the benefit of the billionaire class and the ownership class so they have plenty of bribes to hand out. high speed rail is for the benefit of the people so we must place hurdle after hurdle in the way to avoid cutting into the bottom line
@elonmusk this is basically what the republicans did but in reverse, and they didn't have to expand the court, just withhold confirmation, and the result was 8 dollar diesel. I'm willing to see what the other direction will result in.
@killerrabbit256@Noahpinion ultimately there is no check right now on the power of the president. adding more justices would dilute the power of each individual justice but make them stronger as a check on the president since they would waver less with each individual appointment. also add term limits
@ifeeljaydid Wrong, an unhealthy weak democratic party led to MAGA. people were told this was as good as things could get in 2015, that a better future was not possible. so they retreated into xenophobia and lies.
@AbHomineDeus large population not working with no prospects for upward social or economic mobility? sounds like the ingredients for a peasant revolution to me....
@danfaggella@PIP1111111111 the practical outcome of the position that human intellect will be obsolete in only a few years is to claim that another Emerson is impossible. you quote the man, yet you welcome the obliteration of poetry as the domain of man and not machine.
@killerrabbit256@Noahpinion The SCOTUS is already damaged. court packing would be a strategy to salvage it. if you dilute their votes, each appointment is less consequential and therefore becomes less political
@Noahpinion Was anyone saying this about Mitch McConnell when he was straight up robbing Obama of a supreme court justice appointment in broad fucking daylight? no, it got them the presidency in the following election.
@ryangrim It always is, at the end of the day they will try to save some tax if they can, but people become set in their ways and they live where they live for a reason.
@DSportswood@ok_post_guy I said some of, point being that people who work for a living should understand that we are all in the same boat and being against someone just because their labor is not physical doesn't mean we should be divided.
