🚨 For the first time this season — we have a nailed starting defender priced at just £3.8m!
An FPL gift this late in the game. Don’t ignore it. Could be key for upgrades elsewhere especially on WC

This graph shows a five game rolling average since the start of December.
Passes Per Defensive Action tracks the number of opposition passes before making a defensive action. Lower PPDA = higher pressing intensity.

Argyle: Defensive Intensity 💪
As promised, we've seen an immediate increase in Argyle's pressing intensity and aggression since Muslic took the reins

11 - Plymouth Argyle defender Nikola Katic made 11 headed clearances today, the most by a player in a match against Liverpool since March 2020 (Stefan Savic for Atletico Madrid, 11). Tooth.
Here's a great compilation of his performance against England for Bosnia and Herzogovina last summer.
A commanding performance from the centre of a back three.
Based on this and his data from last season it's safe to say he's our new central defender

A surprisingly good debut from Nikola Katić vs 🏴. Played like it was his 50th cap. My MOTM.
Can command from the middle of a back 3, controlled the territory, a physical presence, tight to his attacker and has good leadership qualities. He's also composed and secure in possession.
Katić was chosen as the best CB of the season in the Swiss league. Just entered his prime.
If he delivers an acceptable performance vs 🇮🇹, he will most likely get the CCB role in the Nations League. It'll be between Katić and Barišić. Even though Barišić is a more complete defender, Katić has qualities we'll need against high-level opponents in the NL. It'll depend on the opponent and approach of the game. Either way, he's great competition for now.
Welcome, Niko!
Like Talovierov, Katic comes as one of the highest rated CBs in his league.
For the past two seasons, the Bosnian produced elite numbers for interception and aerial duels won.
Note the move from CCB to RCB this season.

Welcome Maksym!
The 6'5 right-footed CB joins from LASK where he was one of the top-rated players in that position in the Austrian Bundesliga last season.
A powerful, athletic figure who brings aerial dominance and a strong ability in tackles and interceptions.

Muslic has discussed his desire to play high up the pitch so I tracked the average position of player events.
Miron's debut saw a slightly lower average position than Rooney's final match. It will be interesting to see this evolve.
Nance's compact shape very visible.

@argyletweet Szucs and Hazard are still injured aren't they? Probably too soon for a TJ or Cissoko start too.
I think Obafemi will start up top and we'll have to force someone like Houghton in a back 3 with Pleggy and Palsson. Need to give Puchacz the ability to get forward.
@jcdpafc Yeah, according to this GBE calculator he's eligible for the permit 👍 Hasn't played enough international minutes in the last 24 months to qualify in that respect, but Bundesliga is a Band 1 league so the last 12 month domestic period pushes him over the threshold. Good stuff.
I believe this will use up Argyle's last ESC and loan slot, meaning the rest of January will have to focus mainly on UK players (Low, Kyprianou).
Unless Szucs has played enough minutes since joining to convert to a non-ESC slot perhaps? #pafc
🚨🟢⚪️ Tymoteusz #Puchacz will join Plymouth Argyle with immediate effect!
It’s a loan deal until summer. All done and sealed.
The 25 y/o left-back has a contract with Holstein Kiel running until 2028.
