The launch campaign for VA270 has officially begun.
Following its transatlantic journey, EUMETSAT's second Meteosat Third Generation Imager (MTG-I2) has safely arrived at Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana and entered the payload preparation facilities.
The opening of the transport container marks the start of the launch campaign. Over the coming weeks, the satellite will undergo a series of carefully planned operations, including inspections, testing, fuelling, encapsulation and integration atop Ariane 6, before its launch later this summer.
Part of the Meteosat Third Generation programme, MTG-I2 will enhance Europe's weather observation capabilities by delivering faster and more detailed data on clouds, storms and lightning, helping improve weather forecasting and severe weather warnings.
Stay tuned as we follow every milestone on the road to launch.

Eight months later, after travelling nearly 150 million kilometres, the spacecraft passed just 596 kilometres from Halley's nucleus. Despite being struck by high-speed dust particles, Giotto survived the encounter long enough to return the first close-up images and invaluable scientific data, transforming our understanding of comets.
The mission was later extended with a flyby of Comet Grigg-Skjellerup in 1992, further demonstrating the spacecraft's remarkable resilience.

The launch that opened Europe's path to deep space.
On 2 July 1985, Ariane 1 lifted off from Europe's Spaceport carrying Giotto, ESA's first mission to deep space.
The launch marked a historic milestone. After being injected into a geostationary transfer orbit, Giotto began its journey beyond Earth's orbit towards Comet Halley, becoming the first European spacecraft to explore the Solar System and fly close to a comet.
100 satellites. Three launches. Four months.
Ariane 6 is delivering.
With 100 Amazon Leo satellites successfully deployed across three missions in just four months, Arianespace is demonstrating its ability to support the rapid deployment of next-generation satellite constellations.
VA269 also marked another step forward for Ariane 6, with the successful introduction of the upgraded P160C boosters and an increased payload of 36 satellites.
Reliable. Flexible. Scalable. Ready to meet the growing demand for connectivity.
