A delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) met with Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

The ADB delegation, led by Country Director Emma Fan, called on Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

The delegation included Deputy Country Director Asad Aleem, Project Officer Hamid Khan, Khayyam Abbasi, and Syed Adnan.

Secretary Transport Asad Zaman and CEO TransKarachi Fawad Ghaffar Soomro also attended the meeting.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon welcomed the distinguished guests.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Sindh government is making every possible effort to make the ongoing transport projects in Karachi—especially the Red Line BRT—an exemplary project at the government level.

During the meeting, the ADB delegation was briefed in detail on the current phases of the Red Line BRT, the construction pace, and technical matters.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Sindh government is working day and night to complete this project at the earliest.

He added that the Chief Minister of Sindh and the relevant team are continuously working, and the project offices remain open 24 hours a day to ensure uninterrupted monitoring of progress.

Practical decisions have been made to resolve the issues faced by the Red Line BRT, and the construction work is now moving forward consistently, said Sharjeel Inam Memon.

Karachi is a large and complex metropolitan city with various underground and surface utilities provided by different institutions, he noted.

He said that utility relocation in the Red Line BRT project was a major challenge, but most technical issues have been resolved, while the remaining matters are also being addressed through a coordinated strategy.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Sindh government is pleased to work with the ADB and values the institution’s cooperation.

The Red Line BRT will be completed as soon as possible to provide citizens with a modern transport facility, he added.

The ADB delegation expressed satisfaction with the pace of the project and the administrative efforts.

“We want to see the Red Line BRT as an excellent and award-winning project,” said the Asian Development Bank team.

Their cooperation with the Sindh Transport Department is effective and ongoing, said the ADB Country Director.

The Asian Development Bank delegation added that through joint efforts, quality transport facilities can be provided to the citizens of Karachi.

Both the First Lady, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and Ms. Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari also signed the Guest Book, expressing their appreciation for the UAE’s initiatives promoting women’s empowerment, education, and leadership.
