Cardiovascular, regenerative and developmental biology using #zebrafish. Academy Fellow & Junior PI @HelsinkiUniMed. Postdoc @bwhcvls. PhD @EdinUniCVS.
What are the developmental origins of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease? Thrilled to share my postdoc work, now out in @NatureComms. Using #zebrafish lacking ldlr, we map how vascular dysfunction first emerges during early development: https://t.co/JDrQjp8F2Z. 🧵(1/5)
Our study raises new questions about the cellular mechanisms that shape vascular development and influence disease susceptibility.
I’m now pursuing this direction as an independent investigator @HelsinkiUniMed — happy to connect and discuss! (5/5)

This transition coincides with expansion of innate immune cells in the same vascular niche and inflammatory activation, together creating a disease-susceptible environment.
Huge thanks to the MacRae lab & collaborators @bwhcvls@harvardmed@MIT@broadinstitute for support! (4/5)
Fascinating start to #IZFC2022 in Montréal 🇨🇦 with @EmilyXiaoqi and @AshmitaKC_, representing @LabMacrae. For the folk attending, drop by our posters on Friday and Saturday, look forward to chatting about all thing’s #zebrafish, in person!
The first day of the 17th IZFC has come to a close! It was a great start to the conference. IZFC registration desk opens tomorrow at 6am. We can’t wait to connect with you tomorrow! #IZFC2022
Our Special Issue on the immune system in development and regeneration is now complete!

@KuglerElisabeth@Dev_journal @ShefUni_IICD @BatesonCentre@Timchico Congrats Eli! Amazing to see how far you’ve taken vascular quantification in zebrafish. I still remember you showing me volumetric cerebral vessel quantification for my MSc. Almost 5 years ago! Good times…
Pleased to publish #OA paper in @Dev_journal from Aryan Kaveh @AryanKaveh following our #readandpublish agreement with The University of Edinburgh @EdinburghUni

See if your institution is also participating https://t.co/C4tjLLgW7L
Next up, @AryanKaveh and colleagues identify the CDK9 inhibitor AT7519 as a promising treatment to promote cardiomyocyte regeneration using their larval zebrafish cardiac injury model

Pleased to see the first articles published in @Dev_journal Special Issue on the Immune System in Development and Regeneration
More to come. And check back for some great reviews & commentaries
Our Special Issue on the Immune System in Development and Regeneration won’t be complete until April 2022, but the first four articles are already available!
Check back in the coming months as we add more articles to the Issue.
