@bobmackin@amboultbee@BoatingBC law requires one properly fitted, approved lifejacket or PFD on board for every person. While wearing them is not legally mandatory, they must be in good condition, accessible, and fit.
@bobmackin@amboultbee All this shows is ignorance on your part Bob - and pretty heavy fucking sexism too. Take a boating course and maybe an ethics course? Do they still have journalism schools? Time for a refresher?
Canadians are dying of poverty by legalized suicide - current legislation allows doctors to simply fit the criteria to their needs. Many vulnerable people are being pressured into MAiD and nothing has been done the address the root issues of poverty and mental unwellness.
Reasons I have seen people approved for MAiD:
- poverty
- loneliness
- homelessness
- mental illness (note this is not permissible under current law as the sole reason for MAiD, but almost everyone with severe mental health conditions has physical illnesses too)
I believe the checks and balances the public believes are in place to prevent inappropriate use of MAiD are inadequate and from observing many real-life examples, I do not trust them to function in the way they are intended and promoted by MAiD proponents.
cw: MAiD
I realize this is a strong position and likely leaves me on an island. I do wonder if there are other MDs with similar views who have been too shy to speak up.
I believe MAiD in Canada is out of control and a moratorium is needed until it can be completely overhauled

@jackermann I had my 11th birthday at Pizza Hut in 1999, complete with homemade non alcoholic jello shooters and two of these big mamas. My friends spiked my coke with chilli flakes, bastards. Best birthday ever.
Cars are deadly, trucks are deadlier. We need a new piece of legislation in BC to manage increasing mixed-use of our roadways. Cyclists are left behind by the antiquated Motor Vehicle Act and our NDP government is very well aware of the issue. Keep writing your MLAs.
