Passionate and experienced cardiothoracic surgeon dedicated to saving lives with a special interest in Minimally Invasive techniques.🫀💉 #CardiacSurgery#MICS
The best surgeons aren't always the most skilled, but the most self-aware.
They know their strengths, accept their weaknesses, and work tirelessly to improve both.
Thrilled to share this video advertisement featuring our incredible team at PeaceHealth RiverBend. I'm immensely proud of the world-class care we provide to our patients every day. Grateful to be part of such a dedicated and talented group. https://t.co/vYKdoECoVB via @YouTube
I’ve seen a number of videos on how to perform a Yang Y-incision root enlargement, but none detailing the challenges of actually removing a Yang root enlargement. Aortomitral curtain reconstruction with a wide patch for redo root enlargement is key
Post-MI VSD is ☠️☠️☠️
In this case series, we describe our use of Impella 5.0/5.5 as a bridge to percutaneous or 🔪 closure.

Pushing our boundaries in minimally invasive cardiac surgery #MICS with a left atrial myxoma resection and a postoperative day 4 discharge. #cardiacsurgery#echo#myxomas
With the flood of tricuspid endocarditis over the last few years, pacemaker implantation in these patients is undesirable post TV replacement. Here’s a nice trick @APolancoMD showed me which avoids conduction complications
@georgetolisjr When that mitral case goes bad, that open vein harvest skill when you have been on pump for over 2 hours, comes in very handy. I agree that we cannot let go of fundamental skills.
You cannot pour from an empty cup, prioritize self care.
It pains me to see so many physicians/surgeons not taking the time and effort to take care of themselves.
Your mood, your physique, your attentiveness, your performance in the OR are all tied together.
@VivekGRamaswamy I am beginning to really like this guy. Some of his views are controversial but you cannot deny that for the most part he is an intelligent soul.
Naval for kids. 2 years ago my nephew and I had conversation on important ideas from @naval
Turned his ideas suitable for a 11 year old conversation. Back then he forbade me sharing the project on any social media. He changed his mind last week, sharing this now.
@FurrielF@arghavan_salles In my specialty of cardiac surgery, I do not get scheduled for a night of work. Unexpected emergencies happen sometimes at night that require you to work. Or the day case ends up being much more longer and complex.
In a family meeting, exploring values/priorities, you should not start w "What would he say?"
That q is excellent, but too deep.
That is akin to "What is the salary?" or "What is the call schedule?" in a job interview.
You want to know it, but not in the beginning.

A Cleveland Clinic survey finds Americans are concerned about their weight, but they don't understand the link to heart conditions and overall health. #LoveYourHeart

I've noticed a huge decrease in mental health when I stop taking action
Sitting around, watching Netflix, not working towards anything
It destroys me
I get so unmotivated, so anxious, so down on myself
I'm telling y'all
Meaningful work is a key to happiness and fulfillment
