A Stanford neuroscientist warns high cortisol wrecks memory, enlarges your fear center, and make your brain feel broken.
If I wanted to fix it naturally, I'd do these 8 things every day:
1. Walk barefoot on grass for 5–7 minutes.
Personal revelation is a tricky thing. People often use it as justification for breaking commandments and covenants.
It's the perfect excuse. After all, who are we to question someone else's personal messages from God?
I have been dumbfounded by what people justify in the name of "personal revelation," and social media is full of examples.
I've seen everything from violations of the Word of Wisdom to same-sex marriage and parenting.
Pres. Oaks recently said that if we don't have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, we WILL be deceived.
I believe that much of that deception comes from those who are deceived themselves but believe (or pretend to believe) that they are being led by the spirit.
Just watched Steven Bartlett get absolutely SCHOOLED by Dr. Boz in 6 minutes that will probably age-reversing-pilled half of the internet today
She looked him dead in the eye and said:
“I’ve been practicing 25 years.
Parkinson’s has 3,500 of my patients.
I have ZERO.
Because Parkinson’s only wins when you let the trash pile up in your brain for decades… and then act shocked when the diagnosis hits.”
Her exact words:
“The slow death of your brain doesn’t announce itself.
It starts with:
- the belly fat that won’t shift
- joints that ache “for no reason”
- brain fog at 3 pm
- joy slowly draining from life
- waking up tired even after 8 hours”
That’s not “getting old”.
That’s trash in your brain you still have time to take out.
Then she roasted Steven’s eating pattern live on air:
“Pasta + late dinner?
One bite after 6 pm costs you like TEN bites at breakfast when you’re over 40.
Your insulin is still screaming at 3 am.
That’s how you age in fast-forward.”
Her fix?
Dead simple:
- Finish eating by 6-7 pm (non-negotiable as you age)
- Give your body 16+ hours without food regularly
- Trigger autophagy = your brain’s trash disposal service
- Watch mood, energy, focus, and waistline transform in months
She ended with this line that gave me chills:
“At 54 I want to be as sharp, energetic and alive as Steven is right now.
Most people are decaying.
I want to be accelerating.”
If you only watch ONE health clip this year, make it these 6 minutes.
Your 54-year-old self is begging you to hit play.
Who’s committing to their last bite before 7 pm tonight?
(Just sharing a public conversation between Steven Bartlett & Dr. Annette Bosworth, MD — no medical advice, just a wake-up call everyone’s talking about)
why jordan peterson believes "how do i find the love of my life" is a stupid question
"I got asked that three times in a row and I didn't have a good answer. And then I thought, why don't I have a good answer? I thought, oh, I know why, 'cause that's a stupid question."
"It's putting the cart before the horse. Here's the right question. How do I make myself into the perfect date?"
"If I offered everything I could to a partner, who would I be? You work on that."
"Okay. What do they want? Clean. That's not a bad start. Reasonably good physical shape. So healthy, productive, generous, honest, willing to delay gratification."
"The harder you work on offering other people what they need and want, the more people will line up to play with you."
"Then you think, well, if I do that, people will just take advantage of me. And that's why you're supposed to be as soft as a dove and as wise as a serpent."
"I know you're full of snakes. I know it. Maybe I know it more than you do, but we'll play anyways."
"Even though the person you're dealing with is full of snakes, if you offer your hand in trust and it's real, you will evoke the best in them."
"Even under those circumstances, if you step carefully enough, maybe you can avoid the ax. That's a good thing to know if you ever meet someone truly dangerous."
One of my favorite quotes tying The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to America is not actually from an American scholar, but a Russian one.
Legendary author Leo Tolstoy called Mormonism “the American religion.”
He said, “The Mormon people teach the American religion; their principles teach the people not only of Heaven and its attendant glories, but how to live so that their social and economic relations with each other are placed on a sound basis. If the people follow the teachings of this Church, nothing can stop their progress — it will be limitless. There have been great movements started in the past but they have died or been modified before they reached maturity. If Mormonism is able to endure, unmodified, until it reaches the third and fourth generation, it is destined to become the greatest power the world has ever known.”
“Mormons turned a swamp into a metropolis. Then they turned a desert into an empire. It’s the most American story.”
Their religious beliefs take them to Missouri. Neighbors learn they are anti-slavery and violently drive them out.
They go to Illinois and turn a swamp into a city that rivals Chicago. Only to have violent mobs run them out.
They walk toward Utah. Hoping to find a safe place to gather.
Jim Bridger mocks them. He bets $1,000 they can’t grow crops in Utah. They continue anyway.
The Utah soil is so hard it breaks their plows. So they engineer a way to water a desert.
Their crops grow. Salt Lake City sprawls. They expand. Latter-day Saints settle 500 towns across the West. A network of farms, commerce, and faith.
Their women become the first women to vote. They elect America’s first female state senator.
Their women organize themselves. With very little training, they create a system that lowers infant mortality to among the lowest rates in the country.
When the Depression hits, Latter-day Saints implement the most effective welfare program in the country. Decades later, Ronald Reagan studies it and calls it a model for the country. Its impact is seen today as Utah has the lowest usage of federal food assistance in the country.
The pursuit of knowledge and science becomes a hallmark. They start universities. They send their smartest men and women back east to learn the latest ideas and bring them back.
They are innovative. Technology that changes the world emerges from their culture. The television. The artificial heart. The weapons that won WWII. The beginnings of the internet.
The work ethic and cooperation that propelled them to develop the American West continues today. Their outsized influence on the world is famous.
They know religious persecution better than most. So they champion religious freedom for all, even those they disagree with.
Sociologists are obsessed with their outcomes. A Princeton researcher studied teens in America. She concluded that “Mormon teens are faring best.” Harvard data recently found that kids who grow up in Latter-day Saint homes are the most likely to say they feel loved by both parents. Other national studies consistently find them to be the happiest people in the country.
Gallup finds they are the most observant Christians in the country, a dedication to their faith that is unrivaled. Pew Research finds they know many Bible stories better than any other Christians.
A swamp became a metropolis. A desert became an empire. A persecuted people became the happiest in America. That’s the most American story ever told.
After Jesus was crucified, His enemies were terrified of one thing: an empty tomb. In Matthew 27, the chief priests went to Pilate and asked for the tomb to be secured, fearing the disciples would steal the body and claim He had risen. Pilate gave them a guard and told them to make it "as secure as you can."
Consider what that security meant. A Roman seal was stretched across the stone, an official mark of imperial authority. To break it was a capital crime. Behind it stood a Roman guard unit, soldiers trained for a lifetime, men for whom falling asleep on watch was punishable by death. And in front of it sat a stone so large that the women on Sunday morning asked one another who would roll it away.
Then came the third day. The seal was broken. The stone was moved. The guard, hardened professional soldiers, fled and had to be bribed to lie about what happened. The grave clothes were left lying in place, undisturbed, as though the body had simply passed through them.
Skeptics have spent two thousand years trying to explain it away. The disciples stole the body, they say. But these were the same disciples who had abandoned Jesus in fear days earlier, now suddenly willing to die rather than deny the resurrection. Men do not die for what they know to be a lie. Eleven of them went to brutal deaths, still proclaiming that they had seen Him alive.
To the world, the resurrection is the foolishness at the heart of Christianity. They call it wishful thinking for the weak. But the empty tomb is the most investigated, most attacked, most enduring fact in human history, and it still stands empty.
This is the hinge on which everything turns. If Christ is risen, then sin is defeated, death is undone, and the grave has lost its grip on all who belong to Him. He is alive. He reigns. Repent and believe. Jesus conquered death so that you would never have to face it alone.
Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life.
Dr. Huberman's research reveals something crucial:
The difference between average and exceptional results isn't just effort.
It's the quality of your brain's engagement during training.
This changed everything for me...
How to figure out what to do with your life: my 10 favourite journaling prompts.
1. What would you do if money were no object? Follow-up: if you had all the time and money in the world, how would you use your talents to serve other people?
2. What would you want people to say at your funeral? To what extent are your actions aligned with that?
3. If I repeated everything I did this week for the next 10 years, where would I end up?
4. What have I done in the last two weeks that gave me energy, and what drained it? (tip: colour-code your calendar if that's easier).
5. The Wheel of Life: across work (mission, money, growth), health (body, mind, heart) and relationships (family, friends, romantic), how aligned are my current actions with the future I actually want?
6. The Odyssey Plan: what does my life look like 5 years from now if I (a) stay on my current path, (b) take a completely different one, or (c) take a path where I don't care about money or what people think?
7. What's the goal? What's *really* the goal? What's the bottleneck to achieving it?
8. Write 10 goals for the year in the present tense ("I earn", "I weigh", "I run"). Then circle the one that, if it magically happened tomorrow, would have the biggest positive impact on all the others. That's your core focus.
9. Do you work for your business, or does your business work for you?
10. If I knew I was going to die 2 years from now, how would I spend my time? What about 5 years? 10? 20? 50? 100? What should I change about how I'm currently spending my time based on that?
