So this transition from resident to registrar is real big. One week down and it sometimes feels like starting internship all over again with more expectations and responsibilities! Lots of fun though and learning SO MUCH!

@c3convertase Agree that this is very shitty and unfair. At least as an intern, you’re usually only called in to cover a shift if someone else is sick so it doesn’t happen too often but it does mean that it’s a whole extra shift when it does happen

@amacdt In a previous job I was expected to phone specialists private rooms to book appointments for patients who were being discharged... sometimes 3 or 4 different specialists for multiple patients in a day...

@OrthopodReg Agreed, it's encouraging to see colleges taking these things seriously. I do worry about all of the unaccredited registrars there who have no college oversight to look after them however...

@Medic_Russell I refuse to wake a sleeping patient to place an IVC at 2am because the magical NBM at midnight as kicked in and all of a sudden they need fluids... I do a cannula round at 7am and just leave all of the non urgent cannulas until the patients are awake

@DGlaucomflecken Definitely not the case in Oz. I've bought lots and lots of med students coffee this year. If they try to refuse I tell them that they can pay it forward and buy their med students coffee when they're interns
