I only started on Upwork 2 years back and it took me 55 cover letters to land my first gig. The problem was my profile.
It is tougher for new freelancers now but if you have advanced skills, here is how you can optimize your profile.
*SEEKING SUMMER INTERN*
I'm bringing on an intern this summer to work with me at the studio. Work on real pre-launch consumer products, and see the inner workings of a small design practice.
Requires some IRL time in Berkeley, so likely a @UCBerkeley student. Apply below!
Today is "Big Give", Berkeley's 24-hour online fundraiser
Last year @Berkeley_EECS graduated 1,029 Computer Science majors. Next year it will be ~350. Enrollments were slashed primarily due to the high cost of instruction, with undergrad teaching assistants now costing the department $73-82/hr (equivalent pre-tax comp. rate ~$89-103/hr; see https://t.co/ASgPiInrZw)
If you want to help us maintain our excellence in this world of high costs, you can donate to the Berkeley EECS Excellence Fund at https://t.co/NZhEbDetE4
Today is the 6 month anniversary of me and a group of friends quitting corporate media and launching 404 Media. I can now say with confidence that 404 Media is the most impactful tech publication on the internet. Here's a list of our most recent impact, thanks to our subscribers—
I am searching for freelance writing opportunities. I have 7+ years experience in content and copy and multi-niche expertise. My main focus areas are tech, fintech, education, and women centric articles. I love to work on long-form content, articles, and blogs. RT for visibility!
The US is partnering in Israel's genocide of Palestine, destabilizing the region, bombing countries without an international mandate, and @ycombinator's response is to issue a call for new military tech. Disgusting and shameful
Gig economy workers from @bykeapk@CareemPAK@inDrive@foodpanda_pk@KraveMart along with content creators, free lancers, tech companies with local and global clients. Are all loosing money today. Who is responsible for this? The daily wage worker who uses deliveries as a way to sustain them selves is out of luck today.
Restaurants who rely on delivery orders and who use credit card & debit card machines using Sims to Will loose out on sales and revenues. @StateBank_Pak this is terrible for electronic payments and economic progress.
ECommerce players and logistics providers who manage deliveries using smart phones are also dead in the water. Let's not forget the revenue losses to all the telcos.
Think about pharmacies and hospitals and the chaos this disruption causes when you are faced with a medical emergency and there is no one on the other side of the line.
May sanity prevail and communications restored soon.
There will be water that will stand for days and rise up to the steps of the ground floor - where we lived. The residents became immobile, no uncles going to namaz, no bread for breakfast.
Every citizen in Karachi has stories like these. For every season. Year after year. It never got better.
Every night I sleep and every morning I wake up with a check in on my city.
Everyday, it hurts.
