🇬🇧 Austerity.
Higher taxes.
Reduced benefits.
Stagflation.
Lower living standards.
This is the direction of travel for the UK.
And unless something changes dramatically, it will intensify year after year.
The promises may change.
The politicians may change.
The excuses may change.
But the trajectory remains the same.
This is not a trend that is reversing anytime soon.
Measured in gold:
The 1889 Australian colonist produced over 100 ounces of GDP — 5.7× more than today's Australian
The 1970 Australian (last year of the gold peg) produced 117 ounces — 6.4× more
Even the 2000 Australian produced 75 ounces — 4.1× more
The 2025 Australian produces 18 ounces — matching the absolute trough of 1980, which was itself the worst reading in 150 years.
H/T @AvidCommentator and @DFA_Analyst got me thinking, I asked AI to produce a longterm chart of Australian GDP per capita in gold.
The news isn't good. It's historically bad.
Fix the money.

The latest Demographia housing affordability rankings found that Adelaide is now less affordable than both New York and London when house prices are measured against local incomes. Adelaide has moved from being one of Australia’s affordable cities to one of the least affordable housing markets in the world. Record population growth, driven largely by migration, has collided with years of underbuilding, planning delays and infrastructure constraints. The result is simple: more people competing for too few homes.
When Adelaide becomes less affordable than New York and London, something has gone badly wrong.
🟠 ASTRAZENECA VACCINE WITHDRAWN GLOBALLY FOLLOWING COURT ADMISSION OVER FATAL BLOOD CLOT SIDE EFFECT 🟠
AstraZeneca has initiated a worldwide withdrawal of its COVID-19 vaccine, Vaxzevria, closely following the company's first legal admission that the shot can cause a rare and potentially fatal blood-clotting condition. In court documents submitted during a UK class-action lawsuit, the pharmaceutical giant conceded that the vaccine can trigger Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS), which causes dangerous blood clots combined with low blood platelet counts.
The legal admission intensified intense scrutiny over the vaccine's safety profile. Public health data shows that while TTS remains highly uncommon occurring in roughly two to three people per 100,000 doses the condition has been linked to severe long-term disability and a number of deaths globally, including eight confirmed fatalities in Australia prior to the vaccine being phased out locally.
AstraZeneca maintains that the formal reason for pulling the vaccine from the market is a lack of commercial demand, pointing to a global surplus of newer, updated vaccines targeting recent viral variants. However, the product's commercial decline was heavily accelerated by the safety concerns, pauses, and age-based restrictions implemented by governments worldwide after the clotting risks first came to light.
