The thoughts of @AssociationDrp and our membership are with the brave members of the Canadian Armed Forces, their families, and all of the First Responders, Hospital and medical teams who responded to CFB Wainwright in Alberta after last nights fire.
@AssociationDrp stands united in grief with our Canadian Armed Forces personnel and extends its sincerest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives. We hope for a swift and full recovery to all who were injured in this tragic incident.
It is with profound sadness that we confirm that a fire incident at CFB Wainwright on October 17 resulted in fatalities and injuries. Our immediate priority is supporting those affected and notifying next of kin.

This morning @AssociationDrp President Andrew Tummonds and VP Jay Shaddick spoke to @CityofPickering Mayor @kevinashe1. On Issues that affect our Members and the community.
We’d like to thank the Mayor for asking to speak with us and provide the DRPA with his concerns regarding public safety, how to assist our members and the importance of sustainable staffing on the frontlines and in the 911 communications branch.
With municipal elections upon us it is import when candidates come knocking to ask them their position on crime, reform, and sustainable staffing. Know who supports safer communities for families to live and grow in before you vote!
Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay. Most people will experience 3-10 traumatic events in their lifetime. Police officers will face close to 800-1000.
What our members experience on the job can stay with them long after they’ve clocked out. Mental health matters, and having the right support can make all the difference.
Let’s support one another, break the stigma, and keep the conversation about mental health going. If you’re struggling, please know that help is available.

As we enter the Thanksgiving Weekend across Canada @AssociationDrp would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Sworn and Civilian Members along with our Emergency Services Partners in Fire, EMS and Hospitals for their sacrifice.
While we gather with family and friends they will be out giving up their time with loved ones to ensure our others can enjoy their Thanksgiving safely.
Thank you all for your professionalism, dedication, and sacrifice.
This afternoon @AssociationDrp President Andrew Tummonds met with Oshawa Mayoral candidate Tito-Dante Marimpietri.
The DRPA appreciated the opportunity to speak with about his position as it relates to staffing of policing and stance on crime prevention. It is important that our members have the resources in place do do their jobs safely and effectively while protecting the community and allowing them to go home safely.
During this Municipal Election cycle make sure you ask your local candidates where they stand on safe and effective policing of their communities.
Thank you Mr Marimpietri for sharing your thoughts on the safety of our communities and listening to our concerns.
That’s a wrap on the PAO’s 2026 Civilian Conference!
The two-day conference, hosted by the Belleville Police Association, brought members together for expert-led sessions on civilian collective bargaining, legal and discipline updates, JJE’s and pay equity, onboarding and workplace culture, AI in policing, and a provincial roundtable.
Thank you to our Conference Co-Chairs, Kathryn Chytuk, Tim Morrison and Becky Verreault, for your leadership and dedication, and to all our association executives for your continued work supporting civilian police members across Ontario.
A special thank you to the Belleville Police Association for hosting us and organizing a fantastic social event at Linguine’s Italian Restaurant last night. We appreciate everyone who contributed to a successful conference!
Thank you, Premier Ford, for having the backs of our Members and openly listening to the concerns and recommendations made in regards to our members safety and well being. The development of a plan that better supports our members and their safety is much needed and appreciated. Thank you for your continued leadership and commitment to our profession and communities.
@PoliceAssocON
Police officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. The least we can do in response is have their backs, no matter what.
Today, I wrote to the Prime Minister outlining a series of practical steps to support and protect our brave women and men in uniform.
A great few days at the national Roundtable on Officer Safety in Ottawa. The safety and well-being of our members are our top priority, and we look forward to working closely with the CPA and CACP to keep moving this important work forward.
Proud to join @DRPS for the unveiling of Air4, a new state-of-the-art Airbus H-125 helicopter that will help police track suspects, locate missing persons and respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.
Our government is investing over $190M in cutting-edge tools like Air4 to give police services across the GTHA, in Ottawa, Niagara and Windsor the resources they need to fight crime and protect our communities.

Keeping those who serve our communities safe is a shared responsibility.
Police service + Association leaders are together in Ottawa today for the CACP-CPA Roundtable on Officer Safety, looking for concrete solutions + practical ways forward.
The first of many such discussions.
Thank you @rhondaforoshawa for your support and dedication to our Members and the sacrifices they make.
Now more than ever it is important for Public Officials to support the women and men, sworn and civilian that keep our communities safe at all costs.

Yesterday, I was honoured to join police officers and peace officers from across Canada on Parliament Hill for the @CPPOM.
It was especially meaningful to see members of @DRPS and @AssociationDrp alongside police services from all across the country, united in remembrance of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The last Sunday in September annually is Police and Peace Officers' National Memorial Day in Canada. The flags at OPPA Head Office in Barrie are flying at half staff today in honour of the service and sacrifice of our fallen officers.
This year has been an especially difficult year for the police and peace officer community with five police officers and three peace officers who have died in the line of duty.
On September 27th there will be the names of five police officers and one peace officer from across Canada honoured, and added to the tablets at the rear of Parliament Hill.
Two of the police officers who died this year will be added to the tablets next year. Of the six, two are our OPPA members, who both died in the line of duty in 2026 - Sergeant Brandon Malcolm and Provincial Constable Tarun Bali. The families, friends and colleagues of Brandon and Tarun are forever in our thoughts.
This brings the total number of police and peace officers who have died in the line of duty in Canada, and honoured on the tablets, to 918.
The OPPA Board of Directors will join the families, friends and colleagues of Brandon and Tarun, along with our members from across the province on Parliament Hill in Ottawa at the Canadian Police and Peace Officers' Memorial today for a ceremony at 11am.
The ceremony will be livestreamed starting at 10:30 a.m. ET. The Reading of the Names on the Honour Roll will occur and be livestreamed at 9:00 a.m. ET from the steps of the Police Memorial Pavilion at the rear of Parliament Hill beside the tablets overlooking the Ottawa River. For the links to watch live or anytime later on YouTube, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn, visit the official blog of the Canadian Police and Peace Officers' Memorial online at: https://t.co/k2WJA5uOCt.
They are our heroes. We shall not forget them.

@AssociationDrp Members participated in the 29th Canadian Police and Peace Officers Memorial Golf Tournament at Anderson Links in Ottawa.
The DRPA team comprised of LRS Tim Morrison with Directors Justin Azzano, Kerry Irving and “guest putter” Director Rob Parcels finished -6. More importantly, they helped raise funds to offset costs of the Memorial Ceremony on Parliament Hill.
Special thanks to @michaelgendron and the CPA staff for their hard work putting together a very worthwhile event.
@CPPOM@PoliceAssocON
As we gather this weekend at the Canadian Police and Peace Officers Memorial in Ottawa we welcomed the Riders and Runners at Parliament Hill to conclude the 2026 @CanadianR2R and @460km Ride and Runs to Remember.
On behalf of @AssociationDrp we say thank you to all the Members and Volunteers from this years events who braved the elements making sure the legacies of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice are forever remembered.
Congratulations 🚴🏃💙
@CPPOM@PoliceAssocON
Thank you to the DRPA for meeting with me. After 25 years in policing, I know strong police services are essential to a safe, growing community. Community safety was central to my policing career, and it will remain a priority for me on Whitby Council.
This is disgusting and must stop. We cannot have a criminal justice system where criminals are getting a reduced sentence so they don’t get deported! It’s time judges and offenders in this country start being held accountable.
This morning the @AssociationDrp Cycling Team joined other police services in the Canadian Police Memorial - Ride to Remember.
DRPA President Andrew Tummonds joined Members of @DRPS Leadership in welcoming 200 riders to DRPS' East Division for their brief stop.
OPP Youth Foundation donated a bicycle to a deserving youth along their route, and Aiden from Hillsdale Public School was the recipient in Durham Region.
The @AssociationDrp Cycling Team also raised $2,000 which was presented and donate to SOLE. (Survivors of Law Enforcement) benefitting spouses of fallen Officers.
The 725-kilometre ride will end in Ottawa for the National Police Memorial. Paying tribute to all fallen officers who lost their life in the line of duty. You will never be forgotten.
Thank you to all cyclists, support crew and motorcycle members for taking part in this memorial ride.
